1. Lifetime bans for first time positives.
2. The good news is that WADA is getting some drug manufacturers to cooperate with them early.
it's black market stuff
GSK abandoned the development of GW 501516 in 2007
presumably they have co-operated with wada
A Duck
do you support transparency on TUE's?
You realize TSH isn't a TUE right? I know tons of people with asthma that use inhalers for track. I always thought it was stupid but who cares? What other TUEs do youthink Rupp is on?
Light and fast
you don't keep up to date with developments do you?
anyhow wada is also looking at TUE's afaik
Synthroid doesn't require a TUE as far as I know.
im talking to aduck re: thyroxine
This is a pretty scary peptide. Growing tumors is generally a bad thing.
Here they purchase Aicar & GW1516 / GW501516 from Chinese and US web sites.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MRvw1vSivM
Turn on the sub-titles.
They said you'd need about EURO 50,000 or $65,000 for a one month program, so it's for wealthy athletes with good sponsors.
Not too hard to find if you a quick search for:
GW-501516 Research Purposes Only And Not For Human Consumption
That's a lie, you can buy GW1516 and AICAR for around $250 online, from U.S. companies and labs.
Seriously. Google research chemicals and go find out yourself OR join on the many body building steroid forums out there.
There are people, including runners, on these forums doing trials from various companies and posting daily updates on a number of PEDS.
peptide?

I'd have to agree that they paid too much. They said they got 200mg of AICAR and 150mg of GW1516 for USD $650 and you'd need 100 times that (for a month).
Looking at one site:
AICAR 50mg
Price: $27.99 or $120 for 200mg.
GW-501516 30ml -10mg/ml
Price: $65.99 which implies that 30ml contains 300mg.
On another site.
GW-501516 5MG PER 1ML, 60ML for $100.00
So to get 200mg of AICAR and 150mg of GW1516 would indeed cost $250 or less.
But what about dosage?
Unfortunately body building forums can't be trusted here.
In one body building forum they suggest:
- 5-20mg a day of GW-1516 and for AICAR 15mg and up a day.
Do endurance athletes need more or less?
In another forum they said:
- it looks like the trials were using about 1gram per day per person (for the AICAR).
- Running AICAR with it as with the clinical trials is going to run about $300 per day.
Then there is the forum where the poster claims he is 50, starting with 10mg per day, building up to 100 mg/day and ran a mile in 4:22... until someone pointed out that would be an age group world record. Then the first guy backtracked and said it "might not have been exactly a mile"....
But in any case, if we take the $300 per day figure, then you need about $9000 per month.
If you take the lower dosage numbers, it' well under $1000, maybe $500 for some. Less for just the GW-501516 on it's own.
That's a big range.
so presumably you'd say the same thing about thyroid medication?oh wait, you'll deny that, but any contradiction in your reasoning will be unbelievable, right?

i heard a rumor that GSK discontinued testing/use of GW50 because testing was revealing that it was potentially cancerous. Opinions? I've read elsewhere that they are saying that as a 'scare tactic' to hopefully prevent people from trying to use GW50.
Did some searching to learn more about these new drugs and happened upon this thread
http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/endurance-training/aicar-log-endurance-runner-944233.html
.
The OP is a "sub elite" documenting a cycle of AICAR, GW50516 and Equipoise (an anabolic steroid). In what is either a case of extreme audacity or extreme stupidity, the username on the elitefitness site is also a twitter handle and the cheater's identity is easily uncovered. He appears to be a 16:00 5k road warrior. If this guy has access to these kinds of drugs what hope do we have to stop doping?

There are also studies that show it in fact reduces risk of cancer. In general, it seems to be a scare tactic by WADA. No humans were getting cancer in clinical trials, only mice at extremely high doses. This was a very promising substance for those suffering from diabetes, but they have now slightly modified it and are testing those alternate modifications. It's extremely inexpensive online. Word on the street is substances like this are the rage in the marathon right now because they let you burn more fat, sparing glycogen, which is why it's called a "metabolic modulator".
AICAR is extremely expensive at effective doses, but it's made for the 9 to 5 worker who never exercises. If you're running 100mpw you don't need it, and the GW501516 is effective without AICAR.
For every new test WADA comes up with to test for a chemical, 10 other substances are synthesized that do the same damn thing. It's hard not to be cynical and think, "Resistance is futile."
Why do people think they are being smart by pointing out you don't need a TUE for thyroid medication? Most people know this.
Personally, I am all for transparency on TUEs at a minimum, although my preference would be to eliminate them entirely.
