So Ben did awesome, made $3000 for 6th place and 1/6 of the $16,000 for 2nd place team (divided six ways I assume for the 6 guys on the team). No wonder there's a limited turnout for great talent in the races, and that is not to take anything away from a tremendous performance by all our US guys. I am still stoked by what they did, and hope they are, too, but also saddened by the PATHETIC payout by IAAF. Oh, sure, Ben made another $2000 more or so from USATF for top US, big whoop. He comes away with less than 5 figures, and that had to take a heckuva lot out of him. Sure hope he makes the US team this summer, I'll be in Des Moines enjoying it.
Another side light, thanks to LetsRun for posting those awesome 2000 photos. That was a hilarious spill that Korir took, and to see that the Ugandan runner had a hand on his head before going face first into the mud was beyond belief. To think that Korir then got up and won the race, priceless.
