This would be a good plan if he and his friend were women's XC runners, division 3 of course.

I've caught the M60 before. It's really slow.
You can always arrange a shared ride
http://www.panynj.gov/airports/lga-taxi-car-van-service.htmlBy the way there are some really nice restaurants on 125th St.

No there aren't.
Go west young man.
If you don't have a lot of luggage, take the M60 bus to Astoria Blvd/Hoyt Ave subway station (it's the same station), then the N or the Q into Brooklyn. With a lot of luggage, take a cab or black car; it's a headache to get on the M60 with luggage, and you have to go up the stairs at Hoyt to catch the train. Once you get on the bus, it's about 15 minutes to Hoyt, then figure about 45 minutes to an hour on the train, depending on where you are going.
Hey-
I do this trip all the time. Park slope is the best place (in my opinion) in brooklyn too, you'll have a ton of fun.
Right when you get off the plane and grab your bags ask one of the help people where the closest metro card (MTA) machine is and where the M60 is. Go buy the quick 10$ MTA card and bus it to 125th Harlem.
Go to the subway (not metro north) and get on the 4 express "downtown" and take it to broadway-Lafyette station. Change here to the F and home to park slope. It'll take a little over an hour and only cost like $4. 10x less than a cab.
Q33 to Roosevelt Avenue, Jackson Heights. Take the F train directly to Park Slope. The F runs express in Queens. Why take 2 subways.
Fly into JFK next time You can get the LIRR from there
The best way from Brooklyn to LaGuardia Airport are as follows:
1. Downtown Brooklyn - Take (G) train to Court Square, transfer to (E) train to Jackson Heights, transfer to Q70 LaGuardia LINK SBS or Q47 - trip takes 1 hour.
2. Williamsburg - Take Q59 to Rego Park, transfer to Q72 - trip takes 1 hour and 5 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes.
3. Broadway Junction - Take B20 to Fresh Pond Road, transfer to Q58 to Junction Blvd, transfer to Q72 - trip takes 1 hour and 20 minutes.
For most areas in Brooklyn, take North - South bus service to the nearest (G) Station, or take the (L) train to Lorimer Street - Metropolitan Avenue for a transfer to the (G).
Those near the (J)/(Z) train should ride to Woodhaven Blvd, transfer to the Q53 SBS to Jackson Heights, and transfer to either the Q70 Laguardia LINK SBS or Q47.
Those near the (A) and (C) train should ride the (A) train to Rockaway Blvd, transfer to the Q53 SBS to Jackson Heights, and transfer to either the Q70 Laguardia LINK SBS or Q47.

What about a mix of the two options? Would it be feasible to take a cab to a stop where I can get on a subway line that would cut down on travel time but maybe not cost $40?
You seem like the type who throws nickels around like they're manhole covers. Good luck enjoying yourself in New York.
I live in Manhattan and rely on Google maps for such scenarios. If you want to do it on the cheap, take the bus to the F train. It's not as daunting as it seems, and you'll get a nice little tour of the city and its characters.
Some really bad advice here.
If you want to take public transport, take the bus to the E, take the E to Court Sq, then switch to the G, which will take you to Park Slope (no going in Manhattan). Probably 60-90 mins, depending on how everything works out.
LGA is a mess with the construction now. It will take you at least 15 mins just to get to the cab stand...you’ll have to take a free shuttle bus to get there. You can still get Uber etc at the terminal. Cheapest would be to call a local car company and have them pick you up. A place such as Myrtle Cab (google #) or have your sister recommend a place. But a yellow cab to PS is probably $50...depending on traffic, 30 mins to 1 hour.

So true .
Just ask the pilot to let you parachute out of the craft by the Kosciusko Bridge on the correct side of the Gowanus Canal .
Throw him ten bucks too .
No biggie
Wonder why this 6.5 year old thread was dug up? Did the "Midwest Hipster" never make it to his destination and now they're looking for forensic evidence to piece together what became of him?
