I bet 5-to-1 that Chris Solinsky will lose in Sandiego

Yep. Ryan Deak will not win. He will most likely not be good in college either. He's been running too long and too much that we are pretty much seeing the top of his mountain. He can perhaps help a program as its 4th or 5th runner, but he will not be anything special.

He can get a real job after college and win local road races. That's it.

Solinsky will win, and win Big

I do not follow high schoool running that much and have just recently noticed all of te posting about Solinsky. SO I amy be uneducated in this when I say that Oregon has a couple of great runners and there is a kid from Washington that came dwon here a raced them and split in between them. Does this threesome, barring that they qualify which they should this weekend, have a shot at Solinsky or is there sub 15:00 5k performance on a difficult state course, not factor in.

Just curious, please don't attack me just wanted to know.

First off: Meridian or whatever the heck you call yourself...you're a dope...Solinsky is gonna kick the snot out of the field.

And as far the Oregon, Washington kids go...they're pretty good but not in Solinsky's class. Sub-15 on a modestly difficult xc course that is 50 meters short of what it used to be doesn't compare with anything Solinsky had done. I'm not even going to get into how slow Moe ran at State (yeah, bad weather...whatever).

Yeah, Solinsky is the class of this field, and unless someone runs the race of his life or Solinsky falters, it is his race to win.

Last spring when he wasn't dominating as he has recently, I would have said that Wesley Smith might have a shot, but it seems that Smith hasn't improved since last year and Solinsky has stepped it up a notch.

Oh, I wish you were near and I could take you up on that bet. I could recover some of my losses over the last few years. After regionals in Ritz' junior year, I believe that he was the favorite. Especially the people who saw he and Teg beat Torres course record in Kenosha. The MW that year had a "dream team" and they showed it at nationals, taking 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 8th (I think). Solinsky running that near Ritz' record in those nasty conditions should make him a solid favorite!!!!!!!!! I dare you to put some money on those odds. Put up or shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i say Rupp leads with 200m to go, and gets out kicked. Rupp is the future in the 5k, he really is gonna be somethin good. 14:30 5k as a sophmore is movin. I say he takes a shot at the 5k record next year, my guess he runs around 13:50

You know what i think is soo funny, is that people on this board always talk about how you have to do high mileage to succeed over the long run, but then when they find out Deak's doing high mileage, and suddenly it's too high and he's gonna burn out.

2 things people always say that aren't true.

High Mileage in HS=burnout

Low Mileage=room for improvement

Those aren't always true. If I were a college coach, I'd rather recruit the guy who's done 90mi weeks and can make the transition to college better, than a guy who does 30-40mpw who you have to wait on to come around, and adapt and become injured as he adapts.

I'm not saying he will burnout, because that implies he will get worse. He might get better if he keeps the mileage way up, but it won't be much better.

Ya I could ask Scott Fry what happens when you run too much in HS...but then I could ask a lot of other people who ran 90+ in HS and they'd say the complete opposite as Scott Fry.

Yeah, ask Ritz too, b/c he surely ran what many would consider too much in high school. Shame what happened to that boy, 13:27 on the track and 4th in xc as a frosh. DAMN SHAME.
