How badly? What were their times going in?
Sean lost 9:06.63 to 9:06.61... His time going in from 2 weeks prior was 8:55. Louis' was 9:15 and change. Big upset!

Mcgorty did win the 1600 in 4:11.68 and was the anchor in the 4x800 in which his team also won
That is important to point out, thank you. But McGorty has been absolutely dominant this entire season; it is just astounding that this big of an upset happened. Louis came through the mile in 4:39-4:40 while Sean was at 4:32. Huge second half from Louis and I can't wait to see what they both do at Nationals.
Top 5 were:
Finals
1 Colson, Louis (11) Thomas Edison (9:15.42) 9:06.61$
2 McGorty, Sean (12) Chantilly (8:55.38) 9:06.63$
3 Calkins, Ronnie (12) Douglas S. Fre. (9:28.61) 9:14.28
4 Tuck, Nick (12) Lake Braddock (9:24.11) 9:18.38
5 Haight, Mackenzie (11) George C. Marshall (9:36.73) 9:21.32
As someone who was in the race, I have to say Sean ran a great race. He came back tired from running the 1600 and set a solid pace. Louis had a great race as well. If you notice, 4 of the top 5 are from the Northern Region in VA. What a great place to run!!

Were the other events before this one?

Yes, the 1600 was before the 3200. Sean ran 4:11 for a decisive win.
Wow... That is surprising... Even after a 1600 he should be able to get the W. I mean he was 2nd at FL.

THISS!!! ^^^ That's a really impressive double (and kind of a triple). Props to Sean! I hope both of them do great at Nationals!

Did a little research, and this season, before the Regional meet happened he ran 9:30. Then at the regional meet he ran 9:15, and now 9:06. This has been a HUGE post season for Colson.

Victory XCs are great, man.
It happens
No shame in a 9:06 on a triple
Gotta remember these are teenagers. they're not gods, no matter how well they ran at Foot Locker or wherever
And lose the all-caps subject heads for anything short of a world record.
Ouch! wrote:

That is a super sweet pic! Thanks for posting that!!
All it takes is the balls to think you can take down a stud like McGorty. Hope to see him tear it up in Spring! Hope to see both tear it up!
