anyone used these yet? preferences versus the lunaracer +?
Bump- lots of us out here would like to hear some use feedback.
In particular, is the "pinched-toes" problem resolved? Is the lunar midsole comparable to the previous series(the second release of the originals, not the series 2)? Or are the midsoles softer and squishier?
I just bought a pair of Lunaracer 3. I was never able to wear the original Lunaracer (or the Lunaracer 2) because of the narrow, shallow toebox, but so far I really like the Lunaracer 3.
The upper is snug (like most flats) but the Flywire stretches to accomodate many foot shapes. My foot is slightly wider than normal, and it fits fine. The upper feels very soft and comfortable, especially compared to the "platic" upper of the old Lunaracer.
The midsole feels cushioned but responsive. I was racing in the New Balance 1400, and while the Lunaracer 3 feels much more cushioned, it doesn't feel mushy or soft. I've done a bit of fast running in them and they still feel fast. It's not very flexible out of the box, but I tend to like a stiffer racing flat. I can't comment on the feel vs. the older models.
I wear a size 10 in the Pegasus 29. I thought I would take a 10.5 in the Lunaracer 3, but I ended up with a 10. It's a little snug (a 10.25 would probably be perfect), but the upper is so comfortable I don't mind the shoe being a little small.
I currently have the Lunaracer+ reissue. I had to size up half a size. Upon trying the new LR3 at the store I was able to wear my normal size quite comfortably due to the more accommodating toebox. The new LR3 is quite possibly the greatest update in any shoe I've had, zero doubts. Unless the upper ends up disintegrating on first run, I'm sure it's better than the current LR.
As a sendoff to the much beloved Lunaracer+, I finally wrote up a review of it on my blog now that I've reached 100 miles.
