I had the opportunity to do a few indoor workouts with Marcus O'Sullivan while he was the reigning World Indoor 1500 Champ.
One thing that really stood out about Marcus (besides that he is one of the nicest people that I have ever met) is that he can change gears instantly. One second I was running a stride behind him at sub-4 pace and in the next second he was 5 yards a head of me. All I could think of is 'how many runners have seen him do this to them'?
I was once on the track before my workout when Alan Webb was finishing his workout. Does that count?

I was warming up with Sydney Maree before a 5,000 meter race and while we were talking I asked him what his best 400 meter time was. He told me 52 seconds. I said, "52 seconds"? He said, "Yeah, I did 4 of them in a workout once". I thought that was hilarious.
Doug Consiglio, Reuben Reina, Graham Hood, Brian Baker, Nial Bruton, Joe Falcon, Paul Donovan, Frank Hanley, David Welsh, Jason Bunston...was a sight to behold running with those boys. I'd say Falcon was the best of them all. The OP had mentioned Marcus O'Sullivan changing gears. Such was also the case with Falcon. Seems like Consiglio had the greatest speed endurance. Hood or Baker might have had the best natural talent. Bruton was an absolute animal...seemed to float. Reuben was like a metronome. Hanley and Welsh could take more pain than I thought possible. Bunston retired far too early. Donovan was on the downslide by this time, but his stories around there were legendary. It was a magical time in our lives, and I have 5 national championship rings to show for it. I owe so much to John, and I hope that his biography is finally written.
You must have run with one of the best distance guys from Kansas named Alex Hallock on those teams?
Virgin and Galloway, not together. Also did a long trail run with Dave Scott.
