9:02 is 9:38 for 3200 (holding same pace for last 200, of course).

Well, thats indoors!
Outdoors is usually quicker, so I'd give her 9:35 outdoors this year, and sub 9:30 by the Spring/summer of her senior yea.
All due respect to Baxter, but no way she can beat Cain on the track. MAYbe at 5,000 ...
I dont even think she can beat her on the track at 5000 at this point. Remember XC is not her specialty especially on the terrain a course is run on. She has nothing holding back her speed on a track!
Sub 16 for both this year!!
Cain is still a miler, so she will still be running mile races in the highlight meets.
Baxter is still a 5k runner, so on the track she'll still be running 2 mile/5k races in highlight meets.
So they still won't be going head to head.
Nice pre-season race for Cain, of course. Glad to see that record start to move down a bit.
Baxter hasn't been heard from for a while (and won't be because California high schools don't do indoors and don't go to Penn). We'll see if Cain comes to Arcadia.
I suspect that after this race, Salazar wouldn't "waste" his protege's time w/ a small-time meet like Arcadia. NON and summer open meets w/ collegians and pros probably the future.
I may be wrong, but I believe Katie Flood's 8:55 3000 @ Dempsey was the only indoor collegiate time faster than Cain's 9:02. So it doesn't make sense to have MC "Hammer" run against H.S. competition if she's wanting to be challenged.
I'd say the likelihood of a matchup is unlikely, too.
Is Cain still considered as competing under her high school? If she isn't, would that inhibit her from entering any major races where she could face Baxter?

"Nice"? "a bit"? And just what exactly would be a LOT? She just crushed Katie Knight (who had a solid performance herself) by 34 seconds.
Clues available at the exit door.

Cali HS's don't go to Penn? Where is long beach poly from again? Ca is the most famous US state at penn a lot of years. Everyone who follows the sport knows that f'tard. And poly isn't the only team from Cali.
Cain can still compete against high school; however, she isn't competing for her school. Mary and her coach are both making sure she does everything to guard both her current high school and future college eligibility.
It would have been a HSR however the 9:02.10 was run on an oversized track which isn't eligibe for the 3000m high school record.
MARY shocked me because I definitely didn't think she could run 9:02.10 and win; therefore, she probably could have gone slightly faster if required!
In response to the OP
Baxter vs Cain
800m......Cain
1500/Mile.Cain
3000m/2m.. 90% Cain
5000m.....very slight favorite for Baxter

A whopping 4 high schools from California went to Penn last year. You'd have to be a total retard (you are) or an arrogant east coaster to believe that most California schools even THINK about Penn. Many go to Mt. Sac, stupid. Even if they wanted to spend the money to go to Penn, the timing conflicts with getting ready for league championships in California, which is how they get to State.
More high schools from out of state competed in just the 3200 at Arcadia than there were California schools bothering to go to Penn. By and large WE DON'T CARE. People from around the nation come HERE to compete, much more than the other way around.
It would be pointless for Cain to go to Arcadia. She's heads above any other female runner in high school. She needs to be running with the big dogs like Simpson, Uceny, Uhl, Flanagan etc. She beat Moser and Erdmann.. Moser has ran 4:03 and 1:59.. Erdmann has ran 15:33 and 32:09..
If Cain's record is the greatest performance in history then what was Bjorklund's?

You need to relax. You have an enormous stick up your a** about California. Some people don't like California. Not everyone will always like the same things that you like. Just learn to live with it.
"NOW what do you think about a Baxter-Cain face-off at 3200 / 2-mile? Hmmmm? "
Well....If Cain can run that time then Baxter could run about 10 seconds faster!
Riiiiiight.
I don't think Baxter will run as fast as Cain this year for 3200 only because she will never need to in order to win. Baxter isn't big on traveling to the biggest meets out of state. She only does once or twice a year.
If Cain does run the 2 mile at Arcadia vs Baxter however my money is still on Baxter in about 9:46.

It's your best that come f'tard. Poly for many years is all that matters from Cali as far as penn goes.
