Thinking of eating some cereal right now...and some beans...than go back to sleep again until noon.
I am willing to bet that she could. In the pre-race interview yesterday, Alberto said that she was in "much better" condition than when she ran 4:11 (which converts to sub 4:30).
I think she's probably a little tired from NXN, plus it is only 6:11 a.m. in Oregon. Maybe later this week, but not right now.
Do I think she's in sub 4:30 shape? Not now, I don't think Alberto is concerned about her going that fast right now but I am excited if she stays healthy. I seriously think that she will be sub 4:05 this summer. I want to see her go sub 2 indoors. I truly believe it's possible. She closed ridiculously fast for those conditions yesterday.
Mary Cain is a very special runner. I get genuinely excited about her potential this year.
Maybe more importantly she can finally clean up the mess that is currently the HS Girls' 3200/2 mile/3000 record situation.
I think she'll obliterate it. Her 4:11.01 translates to a 9:33 3200. If she can give a good effort I don't see why she can't go under 9:45. She went 9:27 for a 3000 as a freshman, in one of her first HS races and she is LIGHTYEARS ahead of that fitness.
