I would say probably not, but it would be a case by case basis.
I've worn shoes 1/2 to 2 sizes too big before I knew how to size shoes, and in normal training it doesn't make a big difference. You can adjust your laces to make them fit better which takes care of most of the problem.
The areas where I think you'll run into problems are at the extremes. Wearing spikes or racing shoes, the wrong size shoe might cause blistering or your foot to slide around at high speeds, or mess with your gait due to spike placement and such. On rocky trails, I've run into problems with shoes too big because the extra length causes them to catch on rocks. On flat ground and training paces, I wouldn't worry about it.
I think it is a little harder to toe off if your spikes or flats are too big.
For longer races 5k and up I'll keep it comfortable and where a size 13 but 800-2mile races I go 12.5
I agree for shorter distances stick to your fit size. If you run very long distance or downhills you usually wear a half or a whole size up.
Haven't tried it. But I have tried running in shoes half a size smaller - gave me arch pains.
not a 1/2 size, but if you go too big or too small it will have an effect. For instance, in a nike vomero for example, it would affect the placement of the forefoot zoom air unit. In Asics, the twist gel under the ball of foot. etc.
I usually wear a half size up (for most running shoes) and occasionally a size up depending on the fit and have had no problems at all. But then again, I wear custom inserts and that might make a difference.
Absolutely, it can cause blistering and your feet sliding around more than they may be used to which will put strain on your muscles that they aren't used to and if you pop out a 20 miler you could easily be injured.
Make sure your shoes fit.
