does anyone know where fennell is going to college?
does anyone know where fennell is going to college?
Had heard that American U was high on his list, but you never know who will come sniffing around now filling his head with stories of glory.
Down to 2:
'Nova
American
nova would be a good fit.. better running and stronger academia...
plus curtis is coming and they only lose Parlapiano and blinko
What has he run this year? I know he ran well last year and the year before but haven't seen anything recently. His sister is pretty hot.
he's more of an XC guy, so this decision shouldnt be a tough one...hmm , nova 12th in the nation, or american, 7th in the mid atlantic region....
I think Matt Centrowitz is the reason why he is looking at AU

Both Marcus and Centrowitz are great choices. But I think this kid is going to be a great 5k kid, and I think Centrowitz would be the better choice.
Villanova gets a lot of credit for the type of team it has, but how has it developed the talent once it gets there?
Adrian Blincoe ran 3:42.78 - 4:00.8 and 8:00.6 for 3k before he came to 'Nova. Went from 9th in his first year to 32nd to 39th this year in XC. He's run 3:58 and 7:47 indoors since then. Yes, he has improved, but has not done anything up to that standard outdoors yet.
Ryan Hayden - 4 minute guy in Canada before he came down.
Tom Parliapano - guy ran 1:56, 4:16, 9:16, 8:27 3k in HS.
Jon Fasulo - 4:11 in HS.
Jason Jabaut - 4:09 guy in HS.
Any decent coach could transform these guys into 4 minute milers, because they all have the talent. Suffice it to say that Villanova is only strong because of its tradition in getting prized recruits, not on how well it develops its guys.
Sean O\'Brien 4:18 mile in high school- 3:41 1500 junior year at american
Sean Duffy- 4:14 mile in high school- 3:44 1500 freshman year
Matt Seymour- 16:40\'s in 5k xc in high school- 30:52 10k XC sophmore year
True AU does not have the great past history of villinova but how could they? There track program was started in 1999 and is only three and a half years old. Its all about development. Centrowitz has coached plenty of professional runners too with similar results.
seems like this thread is full of the runners from american. Come on guys, stick to making websites...
If he turns out like the older Fennell from Pearl River, it won't matter where he ends up. College will be a 4 year vacation and the party scene will quickly become the sport of choice. 40 doggers and cheap no name beer will be the main course. The calendar will be marked for going out 8 days a week to the local watering holes lookin' for a good time and meeting fast, easy women. His buddies will predictably call him "Funnel" rather than Fennell for his outstanding capacity to down swill. He's much too talented to turn out like that.

Please don't tell me you just asked that...
Blincoe is a national champion, isn't he?
Going from 4:16 to 4:00 is not insignificant.
"Centrowitz has coached plenty of professional runners"
Centrowitz has ruined a few as well - 1 John Trautmann comes to mind
he also sucks all the potential out of them during their first few years, allowing almost no room for improvement senior years or beyond
JJ--do you even have a clue what the @#$% your talking about?? clearly not.
Here's a novel concept: Matt and Marcus are both very good coaches running outstanding programs and anybody would be successful attending either American or Villanova.
Flame away.
The truth of the matter is that the American U coach probably cringed when Fennell won the NE Foot Locker's because the kid is no longer the biggest secret stud in the US. He's big time now and will probably go to a big time school.
Nova has known about him for a while. I know some NJ coaches who ran teams in NY last year who were impressed with him and e-mailed Coach O\'Sullivan. His answer was that they were well aware of him. I also heard something this week about Princeton.
how the hell can you not notice him? FL qualifier as a soph, 4:11 miler as a junior. this isnt a breakthrough race people.
