How can you think that with all the SEC and National Cross titles he has collected over the years?
Since when has Pat Henry won SEC and National Cross titles?

Maybe he just wants to bring in his people. People that he knows are going to be loyal and do things his way. Hartman has done a nice job, but does that necessarily make him the best guy for the job? The best guy to work for Pat Henry?
Having people who are loyal and who you can trust is very important.

Hey retard, here is the full quote. If you didn't get it the first time, read it over again 100 times, then post back.
"That was a truly enlightened observation on your part considering he has built his rep on sprinters and jumpers. Not care about distance runners? How can you think that with all the SEC and National Cross titles he has collected over the years."
I know we have some less than brilliant ones on here, but mien gott. Is is too much to ask for people to read between the lines for the full effect of the post?
but the best guy for pat henry is not necessarily the best guy for the a&m distance program.
it's all speculation at this point. he may keep hartman, he may look for someone else.
i read it once or twice more...it's not especially lucid...but don't blow your top...it's okay.
Any word on Hartman. If he is let go, the future of Texas A&M as a distance school is shot. Will that girl, Gulli, stay with him? She was great at the Trials. Why would Henry get rid of him?

Why is that? Is Hartman the best distance coach in the country? He was just a guy at UTSA that had a couple decent runners before he got to A&M. He has done a very good job turning the program into what it is and I would feel bad if he is let go, but I am sure there are many good coaches who can do the same, or maybe better.
In the end Pat Henry will be the one who is judged on the success of the entire A&M program. Shouldn't he be able to bring in the people that he feels comfortable with as his assistants?
They might bring in the "Great" Ray Stanfield from UAB to be the distance coach I heard?
Texarkana,
A couple of good runners at UTSA? Didn't they qualify for NCAA's for the first time ever with Hartman coaching them. Since he left, UTSA has done nothing with distance at all. I agree that it Pat Henry has to make the decision for himself but to let a guy like Hartman go would be an injustice to the team at Texas A&M.
what does A&M stand for?
Texas Agricultural and Mechanics School
The fact that he was able to do anything at all at UTSA is an extreme compliment to his credits. Without him they're barely keeping ahead of a local D3 school. They're pretty much terrible now, and have no development at all.
Coach ray stanfield will save the day soon.
y
Ray is leaving UAB!!!! He has turned that girls team around and has some great recruits coming in. Don't leave Ray!
It amazes me how much you guys 'think' you know. But in reality you don't have a clue. When Hartman was at UTSA he qualified for nationals with a bunch of africans. Most of which he didn't recruit either, since he was only the Distance Coach at UTSA for a couple of years.
Also, Hartman did not 'turn the aggie distance program around.' Yes they were pretty bad. But if you knew the history of the Aggie distance program you would know that he was just in the right place at the right time. When Hinze was the head distance coach at A&M he had 1 scholarship for women and 0 scholarships for me. It is easy to see why they finished last in the Big 12 when they have no scholarship money. After the men finished last in the Big 12 (for the second year in a row i believe) the AD at the time threw a fit and demanded that Ted Nelsen put more scholarship money into the distance program. Needless to say Nelsen was pissed. But Hinze got 4 scholarship for women and 2 or 3 scholarships for men and went out an recruited most of the people that Hartman has made his living on, Bonn, Hummell, and Gulli. During Hinze's final year I believe the A&M Men's team finished a respectable 6th(?) at the Big 12's and the Women even qualified for nationals. So to say Hartman turned the program around is wrong. I do think it is safe to say that he helped build it though. He has done a great job while he was there. But most of you should learn the facts before openning your mouth.
Hartman definately turned the program around because he motivated his runners and actually knows how to coach. Hinze did not know how to coach, only how to yell at his male athletes and hit on his women athletes. How many years was Hinze the coach? A&M in and of itself attracts a lot of students, definately quality runners. The majority of them quit with Hinze as a coach.
You may have some of the facts correct, but Hartman most certainly did recruit at least Bonn from that group. Perhaps you meant to mention Legenfeld? Hartman was also probably responsible for De basta.
Well, I did some training with the UTSA runners when Dave was a Senior and during his first season as head coach, what Africans did he have? I recall a couple of Australians, but no Africans, he had a bunch of no name kids that trained their asses off.
Maybe you should learn the facts my man
I'm definitely in the know. Hartman had zero africans at UTSA - ZERO! He was an athlete at UTSA - graduated and the coach left for UT. Hartman then became the distance coach - got the fellas to believe and made it out of the south central region - with a couple of Australians - not africans - and former teammates. At A&M - Hartman recruited most of the studs that are there. Yes, Gulli was already there - but Hartman recruited Bonn and the rest of the crew. But most importantly - he has got these athletes to run fast and compete well at the national level. Listen, Hartman cares - he is passionate and well respected among his peers. He is down to earth - which is why the kids respect him. He doesn't need this bashing - he's just a dude who loves what he does - nothing more nothing less. He's been successful everywhere - when he ran at Villanova - he and Louie Q led the California contingent to a top 4 NCAA finish. A true winner and good guy.
