I am 20yrs old, 6ft2, 163pounds and don't have never done big mileage (literally highest week has been 40miles). I am a '1500m runner', with a Personal Best of 3.53. I have only run this race twice. My question is, how do I go about improving? I feel as though I am nowhere near the best I can be. I haven't been able to get a decent block of training in due to some unfortunate circumstances on the injury front.
Do I focus on mileage for x amount of months like a normal program, following a Jack Daniels-style progression? Do I purely focus on dropping my 5km time (no official time, around mid-to-high-16s if lucky I would imagine), or focus on my 800m (1.55 personal best...400m is 51 done a few years ago).
