Whatever. He missed his PR by a second.

right. because wetmore coached him in college and coaches him now. get a clue.
Don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant.
Brad Hudson is at fault. Looks like it's back to Starbucks for them.

thanks for the clue, sorry folks & coach Wetmore.

Do you need a program carhartt?
another bummer for CU. this just hasnt been a very good meet for them. they have times to prove they are for real, they just keep missing out on these big races it seems...
Hudson is not at fault for Steve having a bad race. He almost went down early, and never regained his composure. He made a few surges to stay with the pack but never was really back "in it." Not to mention, the three men going to Athens all ran "A" Standards - not too shabby. Anyways, Hudson seems to be doing a fine job coaching your Women's Indoor World Champs 3000m Bronze Medalist / US Olympic Trials 5k Champ Shayne Culpepper.
The fact is that he didn't go down, and it is doubtfull that his stumble is the reason he didn't qualify. Heck, people get bumped etc in races all the time and still do well. Perhaps it is best to just simply give credit to the runners who beat him by a large margin.

Exactly. Didn't the four people who beat him set PR's? It's not like he failed, he just got beat by guys who had their best day ever.
I have to give the guy credit, it looked like he was really giving it all he had for the entire race, and looked completely spent at the finish.
Here comes the Hudson backlash. He gives Marla her first loss to an american in a razer-sharp Culpepper. He gets slat to come within a second of his p.r. after hitting his knee.Look at The telecast slatterly was not jumping well.Hudson has generated a buzz at this trials. The bitter old-school coaches know that he's coming for there athletes. We need new a new generation."Oh and wait" he just started coaching.Brad we are proud of what your doing!
I would agree, it appeared he did give it all and I was hoping he would be more competitive. Unfortunately he looked flat during the first round and I am sure when he hit the barrier on the second lap did not help either.

Gary ran faster at the '96 trials.
Gary missed his PR by 0.2 seconds, PRACTICALLY a PR, is that OK with you?
slattery just plane got beat. Fam and Lincon were way too strong for him.
Hudson is a good coach, and will only get better. He needs to do some form work with his runners though. Slattery was overstriding like a mother! He looked terrible.
I hope it comes around for him. He it a very talented runner that could do good things for US running.
Don't count your chickens before they are hatched. As far as I know, so far his runners haven't accomplished enough to give him a reputation. Sure Shayne beat Runyan, but how will she do in a 14:30 race? That's a true test.Regarding Slattery, hopefully he'll run a race or two in Europe and we'll see. He's still young, and the 2008 Olympics are definitely a possibility for him.
