In his post race interview, Cabral said he will be heading to the pacific northwest for his training in the near future. I'm guessing this means Portland. It would be great to see him with Schumacher's crew to give Jager a solid training partner for the steeple.
The 8:31 seemed like a rough result, but after a long season Donn was only 12 seconds off his PR. Probably still tired from the Olympics but only time will tell. He will be racing Birmingham on Sunday.
He must be really tired.
I would love to see Donn dueling it out with Jager in the future. But I don't know if that will ever happen! Too bad he didn't go to CU this year. That would have been fun to watch!!
I'm guessing it's all about the experience now for Cabral. The Olympics were the end to his season now he is learning the way the big Euro meets go so when he comes back next summer he will be ready and not ending a six month stretch of racing.

^This. That would be prime to see Donn go through Salazar in the Oregon Distance Project...he's already got the altitude tent haha!
Why is everyone so in love with Salazar? I don't think he has any steeplechase experience, anyway.
Just remember there is more to the Pacific NW than Oregon. Thinking future north. You heard it here first.

To me, Cabral deserves praise for timing his peak so well - but as a Dartmough Alumn - i'm thrilled he lost to one of our own.

In his Flotrack interview he said he was still exploring options. So I don't think anyone, not even Cabral, knows that right now.
NCAA cross country, NCAA indoors, NCAA outdoors, Olympic trials, Olympics, he has basically been going without a break for just about a full year now. I'm sure he is exhausted.
He's a medal contender in the steeplechase. He should join the Schumacher group. As an Olympic finalist, he's more deserving to be in that group than Nelson, Bairu, and Vaughn.

But yes, he's had a full collegiate year (earning All-American status across the 3 seasons), graduated, then doing the Olympics, and NOW sticking around in Europe. I do hope he gets a good vacation in there.

His HS track coach (and mine) lives in Washington, he hasn't lived in CT for quite awhile. Perhaps C/M runner didn't know this, or perhaps he thought the other posters meant his HS XC Coach, who is still coaching in Glastonbury.
And no, I don't know what his plans are, just clarifying.
