You seem to have some inside info about the NCAA, compliance officials and EMU who have a stake in the eligibility of Boaz. It's wrong to frivolously dismiss the NCAA as only being interested in the eligibility of an athlete in certain sports. Not sure? Quiz the compliance official at any NCAA school. Portland Runner is correct in thinking that all those w/an interest in Boaz's eligibility has probably given him the twice-over.
Per Boaz tanking...dude, first, let's give it up for Jorge and his great race! Always up there, helping set the pace and put on a tremendous finishing drive. A special thing to watch.
I spoke w/Boaz after and (at the risk of others taking this news and having a field day w/it) he told me that he'd woken Monday morn w/a headache, didn't take anything for it and at about the 6 km mark, it had gotten so bad and was causing him such distress that he backed off. He said that if he wasn't on a team, he would've dropped out. Not sure a headache can get that bad....well, you've asked the right guy! Y E S, yes it can. Because it's improbable that a headache like that would go away seconds after finishing a demanding 10 km cross race, he was still woozy and, naturally, unhappy w/how the race turned out.
I was standing next to Boaz when he and Jorge exchanged greetings after the awards and Jorge said, "I'll see you in track," and Boaz replied yes and congratulated the Buff. Boaz took pics w/all who wanted and sounded sincere in his happiness w/the team's finish.
