Not sure exactly how the race played out, but I would have loved to see a less accomplished runner pace himself better, and blow by Driouch in the last 100 (maybe with last 700 meter splits of 56, 39).
Anybody have a link to a video for this race?

I would agree, though it's kind of tough to imagine another junior blowing by Driouch though. He's basically world class already (3:50 mile?), which is pretty unreal.

Yea I'd guess he just relaxed once he realized that he had the race in the bag. He's pretty damn good.
sub 3:30 coming from Driouch, possibly even this year. He is the next great one at 1500m. 1:36 final 700m probably unpushed that last 300m.
Where's V^3 when you need him...?

Blow by him running basically the same time for the last 700?
So that was about a 1:49 to close the race?
Tough for anyone to catch.
Sounds like he pulled a Webb, but held on for the win. Major props to the Qatari!!!
Is he an actual Qatari or another Kenyan expat? And is he competing in London?

Yes, I do mean blow by him.
If a guy gave him 3.3 seconds on that super-fast 800-1200, then made up 3.9 seconds on the closing 300 (probably much of it in the last 100 meters after Driouch thought he had it won) - that would qualify, in my book, as a 5 meter victory in which he did "blow by him"
And to Retardalert. - not sure what you are referring to.

ACUTAL Qatari's exist???
Morroccan under a foreign flag- nothing suspicious about that....
I'm pretty sure that 52.7 was his way of taking the race over and putting it away - probably was such a decisive move that it left everyone behind. He did the same thing in his semi-final (strong 3rd lap), and he might really be strong enough to pull it off. I remember El-Gerrouj did the same thing at least once in a championship race - a WC semi-final where he ran a 332 or 334 - so if that is who he is emulating...I think you might be giving him too little credit - the kid is good.
I certainly realize he is extremely good - especially for the junior ranks.
And I realize that there would have been a pretty big gap going into the last 300.
But hypothetically, put a young Jim Ryun into this race, and I think he would have a shot at pulling off the upset as I described it.
Webb ran 53,7 he ran 52,7. Guy had full bear when he was "15" , hes originally morrocan, but got paid and no representing Qutar.

False
First you say you'd like to see a "less accomplished runner" pace himself better and blow by him then say a young Jim Ryun could do it.
I think Jim Ryun was more accomplished when he was younger.
Kiprop may have been able to chase him down but I don't think too many others would right now.
I certainly don't think a less accomplished runner could close in a more even pace and catch him.
55.0 followed by 40.0 to get him is still pretty tough.
This kid ran 3:33.69 this year.
He may be able to snag a medal.
