1:48...... but could medal the Olympic final as he's more of a strength runner.

If anything, he is a STEEPLE guy. Think about it!
Why do none of our truly athletic distance runner step into the steeple? Centro is made for it!

He just came off knee surgery!!
anything under 1:46.0 would be promising going into the olympics. If he runs 1:44.x he could get gold.
I don't really care what he runs.
Last year, Centro closed the WC in :51 (final 800M in 1:48sh?). No matter the strength, that means he has minimum very good speed. Thing is- despite making the Olympics, he's probably not on the same form vs 12 months ago. Last year at this time, I'd say 1:44.9 - 1:45.0. Now- I don't know.
I'll go 1:45.5. 51.0 and 53.5. He's looking ready.
51.0 & 53.5 add to 1:44.5. Not 1:45.5.
Given that they list his PB and SB as 1:47.77 in an event where the next slowest time is 1:46-low, I'd say 1:47-point for DFL.
Why isn't he running the mile against Kiplagat, Lagat, and Manzano?
1:41.04!
I'm going with 1:48.42
Pain!
I'm waiting for coach d's prediction. A good bet would be to drop about two seconds off whatever that idiot predicts. His record on Centro's performances is running at or below 0%.
What time he runs isn't as important to me as who he beats in this 800. Same goes for Symmonds in that 400 - don't just run it for a glorified speed workout. Try to win the dern thing.
Ahhh, finally some direction on these predictions. coach d predicts 1:47point. So, if you want to make some money on Centro's race, pick him for 1:45point. coach d is the most consistently inconsistent one on this board relative to Centro (and pretty much any other subject) and cutting off about 2 seconds will be pretty close to what he will actually do.
Fools like coach d do come in handy sometimes.
would be surprised with anything faster then 1:47
I'll say 1:45.9-1:46.1. I think in peak shape he is a 1:44.9-1:45.5 guy, but I don't think his speed is at its best at the moment, because of his setback from surgery.
Just a quick comparison:
Nick Willis:
800 m 1:45.54 Heusden-Zolder 2004
1000 m 2:16.93 Gateshead 2008
1500 m 3:31.79 NR Monaco 2011
Mile 3:50.66 Eugene, OR 2008
3000 m 7:45.97 Lausanne 2005
5000 m 13:27.54
Centro:
1:47.77 2011 (about one year ago)
3:34.46 2011
13:47.73 2010
3:53.92(i)2012
7:50.59(i) 2011
1500m PB is equal to a 1:45.1 or so
I don't know that Salazar is gonna send him. I mean they are running there for training. Getting used to the London atmosphere etc. He is gonna probably run what the plan is. Heck that could be to just concentrate on 550 meters to 650 and then cruise in. Who knows. He could float in at 1:50. Then again...I think it is Salazar's call. He sure looked in control at the trials. On only 80 a week!
Alan Webb=Time trialer
Centro=Racer/Tactician
Webb has no international medals and most likely never will (nothing against him, I love him as an athlete but I'm just being realistic). If Centro was able to get more consistent training in and didn't get knee surgery, he could definitely run 1:44.
