Sorry if this has already been covered. Jeremy Wariner finished 6th in the Trials 400. Don't they take the top 6 finishers for a relay pool to go through the rounds at the Olympics? If so, he made the team, no?

I doubt he sees it that...he'll likely opt out. It's usually only 4th that goes, the hurdlers act as the fifth and six spots and often run in the final.
I know for sure that the top 5 go, don't know about number 6.
I don't want Jeremy Wariner representing my country anyway.
Re-posted from another thread:
Officially, the relay team must include the participants in the corresponding open event, plus the alternate (see p. 11 of
)
So, for the 4x400, Merritt, McQuay, Nellum and Josh Mance are automatically in the relay pool. The final two spots are "discretionary" and are selected using the following criteria:
(1) the athlete’s ability to pass and receive the baton with either hand;
(2) the athlete’s ability to run the turn and/or straight leg;
(3) the athlete’s availability and willingness to attend any relay camps and/or practices;
(4) the athlete’s times run in the appropriate distances; and
(5) the athlete’s World Championships, Pan American Games and Olympic Games relay experience.
