I"m wondering if for some individuals, heel striking can be better than forefoot striking. I always used to be a heelstriker in heavily padded nikes with a big heel-toe drop. I could run good fast quality miles as a heelstriker, however did not have much 400/800 speed. About a year ago, i switched to forefoot striking in the kinvara. Since then, i have been able to run well on a distance run literally two times. All others have been crappy survival shuffles. However, my 4/8 times significantly dropped. but my 5k is about 1:30-2:00 slower. With xc training rolling around, i'm wondering if heel striking is better for me??? I dont want to lose much of my speed though.
