One of your "yours" should be a "you're," another is correct as "your" and the third, oddly enough, could be either.
Video of race is up on YouTube and Flotrack:
He may not be able to earn a spot on the US 1500 team - it's way too tough and loaded! But, if he comes away from the Trials with a PR of around 3:35 or faster, he'll be in a great position to shift to the 5k, which is really his best distance. He keeps sharpening his speed, which is what Rupp has done for the last cpuple of years and look where he's at now! Hats off to this guy for hanging in there and not giving into defeat! After last week and Friday nights result, most would have said, "The Hell with it!" and walked, but not German, he gave it one more go and proved to himself and everyone else he's got what it takes! Totally frick'in Awsome!

Can someone explain what is so special about Fernandez? 3.37 is a mediocre time, and back from what? What is his PB?
What's so special: his entire freshman year.

3:37 is his PB in the 1500. Sure, it's no 3:35, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. It's good to see him making progress once again. I think everyone wishes he would be a 3:32-3:33 1500 guy and a 13:00-13:15 5000 guy based on his HS and early college achievements, but regardless, 3:37 is still a good sign for him, and hopefully he can continue this progress into the summer and into next year.
I could see German taking the trials (at least one of the rounds) out hard, which will be good if Webb et al have any hope left of getting the A standard in the race.

Anything could happen in this trials 1500. No one has show consistent early or mid season form.
Lopepe Lamong has got to be the favorite.
good work german.
will german fernandez sap the kick out of everyone in the OT 1500 with splits of 57 1:54 2:51 ???
takes less then a week of leaving OSU for German to make huge improvements! Some one please get this guy a real coach, not one that is just recruiting the best kids.
3:37 is miles away from the Olympic "A" standard so I don't know what all the excitement is about. The US trials race will probably be slow so if you don't already have the standard you can forget about going to London this year.
Even though Torrence has been running better than him recently?
Fernandez is still at OSU. He is still coached by Dave Smith. Congrats to both of them for sticking with it.
He graduated form OSU and the semester is over. He might still be staying in Stillwater, and he might still be getting coached by Dave Smith, but to say he is still at OSU is not quite right.
This recent result has to be encouraging for German. It's his best track result he's had since his Frosh year. 3:37 is right on line with his 3:55. Still it's a long way from really challenging for a spot on the olympic team.
I don't really think German is a 1500 guy. If all goes well for him, I could see him getting down to 3:34. Maybe even 3:33. It's the 5 and 10k where his true potential lies. We need to see him running sub 13:30 and then then 13:20 before we really know he is back and can, maybe start improving.
He has a ton of talent, but talent is not. enough. He has to be able to stay healthy and train like the best. Then maybe we can talk about sub 13:10 and maybe, just maybe low 13:00 or even under.
Right now, though, he's just a 3:37 guy, and in the US there are plenty of those.
BTW: when I say 3:34, maybe 3:33, I don't mean this year, I mean ever. I don't see him being a top 1500 guy. He just does not have the speed for the 1500. However, the speed he does have will serve him very well in the 5 or 10.
This year. Maybe he could pop a low 3:36 in the right race on the right day.

The coach says it's his last official race at OSU, and he broke the school record. See here:

Kudos amigo
He's back? How? Please explain that to me. He ran 337.8 aka 338 aka ONE second faster. That's not "back". That's the same pace. He ran 4flat in HS 4years ago and is still struggling to go under. He'll be "back" when he hits any sort of standard on a consistent basis. Which will be never.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
