1:50 for Andrews is basically 800m worth of warmup strides.

Robby Andrews will not be racing Rudisha and Kaki on Saturday. He will be in the same race but he won't be anywhere near them. This race is silly for Robby to run because no elite 800 will go out in 55. Doesn't matter if it's the USA Champs or the Olympic Games. 53 is a very slow first 400 for elite 800 meter runners. So going out in 55 and running even is just a normal workout. I hope he ran some more reps after the race. Either way he isn't going to have the sharpness to be competitive on Saturday. The 800 is a race where you need to run several times in the season to get that race feel.

What a stupid, ignorant comment.
Vig purposely put Andrews in this race for one reason - to practice running slow and closing fast as hell.
I always thought one of Alan Webb's main problems was that he never learned to feel comfortable in non-rabbited races as he never ran them. Webb should have been put in 4:10 college races and told to run in the pack for 1400.
Sure Webb ran non-rabbited race in HS but he was way better than everyone there.
As for Vig being a genius, to me the athletes are geniuses. A coach is like a jockey. But having him run a race like this is a genius move in my mind.
What are you trying to say here? You are a "journalist" and yet what you write makes no sense.
Are you saying that Vig's plan was for Robbie to learn to run slow in a pack and then blast 200 meters?
We already know that Robby can blast the last 200 meters. Been there, done that, seen that.
Are you trying to say, about Webb, that in high school he never learned to run in a crowd?
One could say that about just about every regional high school track star.
Webb didn't stay in college, so your point about what he should have learned in college...??
Webb needed to learn to race, lots.
And Webb probably needed to learn how to rest.
And Webb probably needed to learn lots of other things.
Were you trying to say that Robbie needs to learn to go out in 55 and blast the last 200 in order to qualify for the semi finals in the 800, or something?
Video interview with Robby Andrews talking about training, racing Rudisha, Olympic Trials.

This is what I love about running. Robby Andrews ran an OPEN meet and he left himself vulnerable to anyone for anyone to beat him. Granted - that was unlikely to happen as he is one of the best in the nation anyway. But imagine if an absolute nobody stepped on the track and took him down. That person would have instant fame (in the running world) and could get noticed by pro agents.
You can never say the same with a lot of other sports.
Which one of the brojos was the coach at cornell again?

I would certainly argue that there is a difference between saying a post is idiotic/dumb as opposed to claiming the person themselves is an idiot.
Genius move! He ran great all year!
