Doing 6x800 in 2:16 with 400 meter jog rest. What will this workout accomplish?
I'm doing it no matter what. I feel like it will just make me a better runner.

Is your tempo run pace per mile 5:05 to 5:10 or quicker?
If so, then this could be a lactate threshold track workout.
If your tempo pace is slower than that, then this will likely stress your anaerobic system. It should help with your "leg speed velocity".
Let's put it this way... train faster/longer to tolerate anything slower/shorter. Hopefully this is at or faster than your desired race pace, whatever distance/pace that may be.
Good luck!
