I don't remember the model but it was made by Etonic. This was in about 1991.

Either some Roos or the Hush Puppies I wore in grade school.
Fall of '77 - Tiger Montreal. Ran in the Montreals until '80 when I started a long relationship with Nike, starting with a blue Nike trainer that I can't remember the name. Just saw an old school picture on-line and someone was wearing them. They came out in '80, but we're gone after one cycle/year. Then used the Internationalist, Boston?, Daybreak. One of my all-time favorites was the Terra TC. I must have went through a dozen pairs. If I'm not mistaken, that was a rare occasion where Nike didn't change the shoe until it was discontinued after a few years - does that sound right? I would love a modern (but much like the old) version.
NIKE Kenya Red-1972. Frickin a doodle, I wish I still had them. Switched to Adidas SL72's for a couple years, then back to NIKE's when the Waffle Trainer/LDV came out and been with them pretty much since. Still have a pair of Tailwinds sitting in a box, SMU Elite's(Baby Blue/Hot Pick swoosh) and prototype steeplechase shoe.
1978 Nike Blue waffle trainors with Yellow swoosh
Addidas Centaur 1986.
1971 Adidas Roms, then the Tiger Marathons, 8 oz.(0.22 kg)

Onitsuka Tigers--I know they were blue and I think they were suede. 1975. In 1976, freshman year of high school, I trained in Waffle Trainers and raced in Nike Oregon Waffles--

Probably the same ones that my brother handed down to me. They were called the Tiger Bangkoks. I still have the well worn pair in my closet. I also have my first pair of Oregon waffles. I recently found a pair of Tiger Spartans (T&F spikes) that are brand new in the box.
I trained in a pair of Air Jordans the summer before I started XC then got a pair of Gel Hyperspeeds.
The Internationalist and others had a few versions. The 'blue shoe' that was early 80's and only around for 1 year may have been the Bermuda. Mesh front toe box, snug fit. I remember running in the Internationalist then actually buying 4-5 pair EACH of the Terra T/C and Zoom Elite...the royal blue with yellow Swoosh. I remember stocking up on these 2 shoes and getting them for about $220 for like 9-10 pair of shoes from a 1-800 warehouse in the back of RunnersWorld mag. Now $220 will get you 2 pair of shoes...and thats if you get a 15% discount.
Adidas Mexicana, 1970. Bronze-colored kangaroo leather with black stripes. Still have the box.
Wish I'd never changed. Probably would have avoided all those injuries that I now know were caused by running in shoes with elevated heels.
What numbskull decided that running shoes need heels, anyway?
Hmmmm . . . let's see . . . how can we really bugger up eons of evolutionary adaptation?
I've got it! We'll put a big chunk of rubber under their heel!
Why, that's simply brilliant! They'll totter down the road like Georgetown sorority girls after happy hour! They won't last two weeks! Excellent! Bwahahahaha!

modern running shoes work for me
Nike Vengeance. It had to be in either 1985 or 86. I remember buying them at Footlocker in the mall, though.

first shoe I ran in as a freshman in high school was a converse all star high top canvas sneaker!! I later upgraded to asics, and finally to saucony in first year of college....now the only shoe I run in.
The earliest I remember are the Nike American Eagle, the original Nike Pegasus, and the Nike Terra TC. My favorite old school shoe that I would love to see again are the Tiger Jayhawks.
Nike nylon Cortez was probably my first, but the Nike Sting was my favorite...
I loved the Tiger Jayhawk and would still race and train in it today

Tiger Marathons, fall of 1969. Pictured recently on the cover of Running Times in a Jim Fixx-like leg photo. Sent to me by my cousin, Bob Woodell, who had begun working for the fledgling Blue Ribbon Sports, later to become Nike, of which Woodell would become President in 1984. Light, with a wafer-thin, ultra-durable sole, My first use of them was in my rugby class at Southern Oregon College.
Japanese Onitsuke Tiger from Blue Ribbon Sports. Leather, all white, no logos, no arch support--more like a slipper with laces. Bought at Palos Verdes HS, 1965 from Jeff Johnson, selling them out the back of his van.
1962 shaped like a cut down spike in black canvas with 3white stripes. I bought them with my own money and 7 bucks seemed steep. I think I wore a variation of those for the next couple of years. Moved to Lawrence Kansas summer of 64 and we know who came at the same time. I think there was a place in town that sold blue suede Addidas. In hs fall 68 some blue split cut smooth light blue uppers with 3 white stripes out of a guys trunk in the parking lot. Then from 70 on real Addidas. Then Nike for a coouple of years then sent a copy of my footprint to New Balance and the sent some custom shoes that was spring of 76.
