That's hard to say! It's like saying Wilson Kipkiter runs 1:41.11 he should be able to run 1:51 and a 1:51 that's a 3:42 mile. MJ never had the desire to run that far. He never did 800's or even 600's at practice..I read that somewhere maybe runners world in 97'
very few BONIFIED 400m guys can handle the 800m its a tough event. I look at guys Mark Everett, Jose Parilla from the U.S. they were the few could run 45 flat or better a run under 1:44 if you look at Quincy Watts, Butch Reynolds, Antonio Pettigrew, and MJ they never touched the 800m. Not that they were scared they just new it wasn't there race.

he ran repeat 400's in 52-53...and also did 500s and 600s

You'd better believe MJ ran 600s. Clyde Hart is a good coach, and MJ spent the time to get his WR's. Take a look at "Slaying the Dragon." It's a good read.
