I know that the loop if the reservoir on teh bridle path si 1.66... does anyone know how long the larger loop up to the 102d transverse is? What about if you go as far as you can on the path, starting at engineer's gate, around 102d, down the west side, back up to reservoir, around th south end, finish out the loop to the gate again.
The larger loop is 2.5 miles. The whole loop is about 5.5.

Thanks.. but I don't see how it could be 5.5 for the whole thing. Mayeb I don't know how far the loop goes.... if the larger Rez portion is 2.5, you're saying that you could add three miles by heading south on the west side and back? That would mean about 30 blocks in each direction... I thought the lower portion was just a path that ran down from W. 86th till about 72d or so... I appreciate the info..
The bridle path runs, zig zagging under West Drive, to 7th Ave. and Central Drive (60th)- 26 blocks in each direction if you don't count the few extra blocks from weaving under West Drive.
If you start at Engineer's Gate, run north to 102nd, then along the west side until the path ends at 59th st, and then turn around and retrace your steps back to Engineer's Gate, it's roughly 7 miles.
Thanks! That's great info... to be honest, I had no idea you could cros underneath West drive and head so far south and tag on so much mileage. I'll try this tonight. That would be fantastic to be able to get in sone decent distance on a soft surface without leaving the park.
