Who are the favorites for the ETH marathon team - Tola, Lilesa, and Abshero?
plus Oly and World medalist Kebede and ING NYC champ Gebremariam are probably automatic if they are fit and want to run
Did Geb get passed right at the line?
Fujiwara just passed Haile.

Being 38 years old is way too old, he was an amazing runner with one of the best talents ever seen, but ppl have to realize everyone with no exception run faster under the age of 35 yrs old... and I pushed that number, should be lower, this age is downhill from here

It looks like he will finish in 2:07:xx. Probably not good enough to make the Ethiopian Olympic Team.
Haile's 2nd slowest time ever.
Gebremariam, Cherkos, Geneti. 2:04:53 2:06:13 2:06:35 in 2011
2:08x for Haile

besides, Geb is more like 42.
he may have to hop on the track and try and make it in the 10k again.

even Lagat has slowed - he can't get near 3:26 any more
If Geb wants to run the Olympic marathon he will run.
This is not an objective selection system.
If I had to make a bet, I would bet that you will see him on the line in London in August for the marathon.
This is not like Dan O'Brien no-heighting in the decathlon pole vault.

He's a lot older than that
Geb was 16:13 between 35k and 40k
Thank you. I don't have to waste my time replying to lol@tards... some people can't read no matter how old lol
I don't think Haile will bother racing if this is the best he can do. The guy's ready to retire - does he really want to take a faster runner's spot?

I doubt it - this was a well-beaten Haile - he died at the end. And this was his best marathon in years. And there are some world class guys 3+ minutes faster than him.
I would be shocked if he makes the marathon team. This was not competitive.
