I was running in the dark a while ago and landed square on a rock that caused my foot to splay. It must have torn something in my foot because it hurt, and upon stopping it got really bad. It gets better each day that I rest it, but if I run at all, even a mile, it gets significantly worse. I've told my coach this, but every day I come to practice he asks me if I'm going to run or not and acts like I'm being stupid for cross-training. I'm an NCAA D1 athlete on scholarship, so I'm feeling kind of uncomfortable with the whole thing. I'd like to tell my coach to go fock himself, but that obviously wouldn't go over very well. He seems to be getting more and more frustrated with me for cross-training though, so I think a confrontation may happen soon.
What is the proper way to handle this?
