Eh, not bad but is this the Farm Team that is the hope of America? And if I remember right someone was complaining about how "Farm Team" guys are pro's. Last I saw all the good FT guys moved up to "Nike." It seems to be a farm system after all. But enough negativity, Bowen ran well for his first marathon (a neg. split on top of that) so cudos to him.
No, not too bad keeping in mind San Fran's course is no pancacke....
Some of the Farm Team are pros and some just get shoes and the occasional t-shirt, Nate is of the latter variety.
He will run an OT qualifier next year, but he's likely to miss the cut when the Farm Team starts to cut its roster.
Why is it that so many on these boards are so damn negative. Bowen wins his first marathon by 4 minutes off of no specific marathon training (he ran track all spring) and on a hilly course and all people can think of is... man he sucks for a "pro" or "he's gonna get cut from the Farm Team"... Well, he is not a "pro" he is a regular runner who works a job as a substitute teacher to pay his bills and has devoted himself to running as fast as he can. He is a guy who didn't break 10:00 in the high school 2 mile and last year ran 14:18 for 5K. I say we should applaud his win and hope he runs even faster next time out.

I think the guy can get much faster at the marathon and I said as much how is that being negative?
He ran a good race on by all accounts was a bad day...windy at the beach and hot downtown..and he won first time out over 26.2. Congrats to the guy.
I think I also made the point that he is not one of the top "pro" runners from the Farm Team and that all he likely gets are a few pairts of shoes and the occasional t-shirt...you agreed. Not being one of the FT stars it is likely that he won't make the fall cut...thats being real, not negative.
Last I heard if you made the USATF standard you were Tier 1. The FT has no specific marathons tandard and if you show potential to make the team I believe you are still on the team. Give the guy a break, he will make the cut and so will the others who are showing potential. If anything they wont accept applications for those who dont make the cut but I'm willing to bet Bowen and others are welcome to stay if they like, so quit being a dick. Gags is cool man and the FT guys are all right, even if they think they are the shit (even though compared to the world standards they aren't).

I ran the SF marathon. It was freakin hard. Windy, warm, hilly, and no one to run with. I'd say the course is about 7 minutes slow. Hats off to Bowen.
