HS Kid Convinces Parents to Spend $16K on Race Travel/Entertainment

Have you read this thread and article about this kid. He's got that hlf-marathoner beat all day, and the parents eclipse $15k in funding insane youth pipe dreams.

This is the most pathetic part of the story - a quote from Dr. Natalie Voskanian, sports medicine physician:

“If he hasn’t had any (health) issues and did this many events, that’s phenomenal,” Voskanian said. “He must have had a pretty good coach.

“It’s hard to predict what (physical) issues he may have down the road. He may have none at all. I think it’s very exciting to see a child his age be motivated to work toward a goal and accomplish it, especially something sports oriented. That’s impressive. I wouldn’t have told him not to do it.”

If she feels that way about this kid she must think the amount of work high school cross country runners have to do is criminal.
