At some schools they weight honors and ap classes to 5.0 but then other courses are 4.0. And some do 4.3 and 5.3 and the .3 extra is for A+s.
I highly doubt the 4.1 is on a 4.3 scale, because then there is no doubt she would get into ivies.
@OP: She will get in pretty easily if she gets decent SAT scores.

Not really. It is like just 20% harder. And if you are a minority other than asian you get a super boost, so dont complain abotu white people geting in easily. Plus it might not even be based off of just thier race. How many well-balanced asian kids are there? Not many. Most are onyl in math clubs etc.

Fine. Let me qualify it better. In the United States (where the asians are smart because to get to the US from asia you have to be smart) Asians are smart and academically oriented. I think it is 75K or under, for free, but 75-125K HH income is probably also going to get you some decent aid. However, at this point, you don't have enough info to sweat this: Next July, sit down with both the Ivy and her favorite non-Ivy school coaches and see what they can do for you. For the Ivies, the coaches will walk your FASFA over to FA Office and get you an answer very quickly. Let your daughter make some visits, they have been known to change their minds, and figure out what you can afford next fall.

I think it's great that you can help her financially. I got through University on financial aid, but my parents paid for my living expenses so I wouldn't have to work during school. I got a job anyway during my last year and it was very tough to work, get good grades and try to stay fit. My parents weren't rich and I know they had to sacrifice a lot for me, but I've been working successfully in my chosen field for my whole adult life and am so grateful to my parents for their help. I hate to say it, but there are a lot of sour grapes on this thread.
