Has anyone noticed that the schools competing for NXN out of the SE are all private schools? Add Xavier Prep in Arizona and you might have a phenomenon.
My theory? Distance running in the SE and Arizona probably has too much of a heat factor to be broadly popular. Those who want to run (and have parental money) thus tend to end up in a few private schools--making these schools successful well beyond what their numbers would suggest.
For some reason, this doesn't apply to Texas--though maybe being able to afford living within the Kingwood or Southlake Carroll attendance boundaries is, in effect, attending a private school (I'm not sure about that, just guessing).
Tatnall isn't exactly SE by geography, but they obviously have a lot of running success and a very small student body. Can someone help fill me in what's going on there? Nobody with 200-some high school students should be that good that consistently in cross country. What gives?
