I've been wearing these Merrell Path shoes lately (http://www.shoebuy.com/merrell-path/347702), just as casual shoes. At first I noticed that my calves got worked, as they have a very low heel - almost no drop to the toe (and at first they were kind of stiff). They also have pretty good arch support in them, which is one reason I bought them.
After wearing them for a while and slowly wearing them more often and for longer periods of the day, I have noticed that my plantar fasciitis is really clearing up. They are definitely not running shoes, but it got me wondering if there were a similarly built running-type shoe that has good arch support but that has very little heel-toe drop. Of course, I thought to check out the new Merrell running shoes, but I just haven't gotten around to it, yet.
From what I've seen, most of the minimalist running shoes have very little heel-toe drop, but also have no arch support.
