3A boys-
Team- Wide open between Palatine, Neuqua, and York. O'Fallon is the dark horse that could surprise. Neuqua is the popular pick FTW after Palatine faltered at sectionals, but if Palatine can run at least as well as they were doing mid-season (Peoria Notre Dame, Palatine inv.), they should win. I think they'll actually perform better than that and win handily.
Individual- Also pretty wide open between Later, Schrobilgen, Sweatt, and Derrick, with Peterson, Juras, and Atchison also having outside shots at pulling it off. If anyone, Later is the favorite after demolishing the previously unbeaten Schrobilgen at Sectionals, though he lost to Sweatt 14:20-14:23 at Peoria Woodruff early in the season. Derrick was quiet for most of the season but has been running well lately. I say Later wins in roughly 14:10.
girls-
Team- New Trier. Anything else would be a huge upset. Could conceivably have 3 under 17.
Individual- Flanagan was the definite favorite for much of the season, but Fox has been running great since Conference and now Flanagan lost Sectionals to one of the Ackermans. Fox is probably the favorite, but Flanagan, Michaelek, Rakosnik, Wolfe, or Ackerman also wouldn't be surprises.
2A boys-
Team- Belvidere North. Only question is how they compare to the top 3A teams.
Individual- Clevenger. The main question again is how he compares to 3A. I suppose Yunk or someone might conceivably pull off a big upset.
1A boys-
Team- Tolono Unity, Monticello, or Mt. Zion. Unity won sectionals, but I like Mt. Zion for some reason.
Individual- Nykaza.
Don't know anything about 1A or 2A girls.
