Texas xc courses =/= NJ xc courses

Columbus North averaged faster last year.
CBA is literally the most hyperthyroid HS team of all time. None of those guys will ever amount to anything. They never do, huh?

Several teams have averaged faster.
The better question is where this race was run.. what course? a 15:26 average for a true 5k is always going to be a very good mark, but to call a team the best of all time is a whole other discussion.
They might not even win nationals let alone beat the old Mead or York boys.

Right.
That's the point.
Jumping from "they averaged 15:26" to "they are the best team ever" is a huge leap.

Based on the way you're trashing high schoolers, my guess is they've already amounted to more than you.
And I'm no by no means a CBA fan at all.

Ocean County Park. No doubt a fast course, but accurate. I have no idea where this team ranks in terms of US history, but in a conference meet, to put 7 guys in the top 14 and have the fastest average in the history of the state is pretty damn special.

They aren\'t the best team in HS history. They wouldn\'t tell you that.
However, they avg\'d ~6 sec/man faster than the CBA team last year, who set the team CR. That team finished 5th at NXN.
The CR is 15:01.6, set last year by Mike Mazzacarro of CBA. Prior to that, the CR was 15:05 by Craig Forys (2nd at FL in 2006; 8:44 2 miler). Prior to Forys, Bryan Spoonire held the CR, 15:17.
The course is flat and fast, 5k measured. It has a very small rolling hill that you run twice, other than that, completely flat on grass, though there are a lot of turns.
The course is not used very often. Prior to 1989, it was used only for the Ocean County Championship meet, dual meets, and a very rare invitational that attracted small teams.
In \'89, the Shore Conference (CBA\'s conference, which comprises all the schools from Ocean and Monmouth County, NJ, 44 schools in all), moved their Conf meet there every other year. No major invites are held there. About 2 years ago the Shore Conference decided to move their meet there permanently.
So basically, the course is run by the best runners from 2 counties in NJ, every other year since 1989, and every year for the last 2. Very small sample set, though some excellent milers have run the course.

.
I thought Rich Morris had the CR before Forys, from the '93 race w/ Fagan?
Beat me to it; just saw an email talking about it, and I was going to come back here and mention it (specifically, that they are 6 seconds faster than last year.. with a tigher pack (#3 at 15:26 and #5 at 15:38, versus their 15:36.91 and 15:49.03 last year)... so, basically, showing they are definitely one of the best teams (if not #1) this year.

Didn't Eric Savoth run like 13:31?

prediction #1: bloom will continue rating of cba #1 in his next rankings
prediction #2: cba will smoke current espn rated #1 team at nxn
prediction #3: The Ny teams that make NXN will defeat current espn rated #4 (davis of utah). This assumes davis of utah makes it to NXN, which is questionable at best.
WTF is CBA? never heard of em, must suck
