The ruination of college football has already begun. Talking about the Big East, how ignorant is it that because of the GREED of the big universities and the subsequent fleeing to other conferences, Air Force and Boise State who are 1,400 and 2,200 miles from West Virginia might end up in the Big East?
What has happened over the years is that espn has obtained the rights to televise games that used to be televised locally. They then hold cable and satelite companies hostage with those rights pitting the viewer against them until the companies cave in and give espn what they are asking for. The result is that the cable bills are much higher than they should be and espn has all the control over whether you get to watch that particular game. Of course football and mens basketball will always get shown, but the secondary sports are the ones that lose out. The non-sports fan should really be upset because the sports stations alone are about half the cost of the cable even though they have no interest in watching.
What is even more sickening is the universities and the ncaa doing everything they can to get every last dollar while suspending kids because they made an extra couple hundred bucks at their summer job not to mention the collusion with the NFL and their farce that the main concern is the education of the student athlete.
While there is nothing wrong with companies making a profit, it becomes detrimental when they do so at the expense of the players who have no other options and are forced into the system if they want to have any chance of playing professionally.
