Weird? I don't see this as a weird thread and find it weird that a couple of posters are calling it that. ScottH you must really yearn for approval because you were given ample examples of why he should have been credited and honestly after reading every single post, slow day at work, you lost the debate. DK gave plenty of info. But you and Piker gave us a chuckle, so thanks.
You guys are jealous of our La Raza miho that's all. We know.
You're jealous of reality bites and our ipomzia. Hint: Google won't be able to help you on this one, you're flying solo.

Dude, you're nuts. How many sockpuppets have you used in this thread? Enough already. The course was short. Move on.
I feel that the WR was taken for a good reason. KARMA

Amen. Given Salazars relationships with both Victor Conte and Mary Slaney, Karma seems appropriate here.
Piker, you're a bloody moron on your best day and must be the King of sockpuppets! You've probably went under 4 handles on this thread to get people to believe you. Take your own advice and move on.
By the way, it wasn't me goof ball!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ask your friends to check. You seriously need help, and fast!
Don't waste your time woody. Piker does this to anyone who disagrees with him. He's not worth it. 4 hour marathoner if I recall.

who is Victor Conte?
Salazar was the first WR holder for the marathon that years later got that pulled. But if the course was short then so be it.
Did anyone ever scrutinize and meassure the course Derek Clayton ran in 1969? No. And you have technology today to measure via video and GPS to measure every step of a 26.2 mile race.
If its short its short and no record. Keep some standards. Make it legit. Make it respectable.
I recall watching a road 10k in 1983 where Pat Porter went under the WR. It later came up short. It was on ESPN he blew everybody away and ran solo. It turned up 50 meters short. He still would have been under 27:40 (WR) but they had to throw it out and nobody talks about it years later.

I was a junior in high school and an ardent
follower of Salazar’s' accomplishments.
Two things - logically, everybody sweeps
this major point.
Alberto won NYC in 1980? Where did the course
loose 140yards in 1981, critics point to Central Park?
All I will say is that I lost respect for the
people who certify these courses and denying
Salazar’s 'worlds best' diminished my faith in
the marathon. However, as an aside at the
first commercial break at the beginning of the 1984 Olympic marathon,
the announcer said something to the effect
"the marathon it can change your life or break your heart!"
I will never forget that!

Thanks for agreeing with me Dr. as I have made this point more than once in this thread. No remeasure after 80' then a remeasure after he breaks the record. Mr. Scott Hubbard clings to the fact that all records are remeasured, no kidding, really Scott? Of course we all know that, but that's not the point or even close to it.
In a "regular" race in that time period, people would not have gotten reconsideration back then, but Alberto's situation is unique as it was a 12 year old record, he announced his intentions, the race was shown live throughout the country, the record may or may not have been a record at all, and where he ran in the road throughout the city. David Katz and I were right, Alberto got ripped!
I agree with the Karma angle. Alberto is only admired by the ignorant or those that don't mind dirty.
Sure thing Piker, err Karma, err Salt Lake City is home. You couldn't hang with Alberto on his worst day and you are probably the one who's dirty and your pr is what? I rest my case.
They took his record away? That's bogus man, totally bogus. Whoever measured it should lose their jobs.
Just getting back to this for a moment: I mean is it safe to say that the courses that were used prior to Al's run were short as well? especially since no one ever went back and measured them after the race. Also, living in the NYC area and running in Central park during those years it appeared that the blue line was just reapainted along the same path every year?
Out from under your rock dude. Read much? Half a dozen posters have questioned if Bill's times were on a short course as well and you had to have read that. Back to your parent's basement please.
