The CU Buffs are famous for running even paced and coming from behind.
I remember one year at NCAAs it was muddy and they either went out farther towards the front or towards than back than nromal and it paid off really well. But the problem is I can't remember which one it was.
If the course is muddy, is it better to go out farther up front or behind than normal?
I remember the thinking was either - "The conventional logic is it's hard to pass in the mud so we got out farther up front and our strength allowed us to hold on"
or
"The conventional logic is it's hard to pass in the mud but in reality a muddy race means it takes longer to finish so it's actually easier in to come from behind in a muddy race."
Which one was it?
