They are keeping women's INDOOR track and dropping the mens OUTDOOR track? How stupid would it look if a school dropped outdoor soccer to retain indoor soccer?

My father raced the 440 yards against Johnny Mathis in the 1950's!!! SF State was one of the main rivals of University of Nevada-Reno.

Now, both UNR and SFSU don't have track programmes.....what a shame.

What is the deal? That really sucks. I have run in the Johnny Mathis meet, it is a VERY good meet. Sorry to see the program go (competed against them several times when I was in college at CSU Sac) and the especially the meet, which is one of the few opportunities in the area to get into a big time 5000 meters on the track in Northern CA.

I would think that they'd want to keep the Mathis meet to raise money

I feel very strongly about running in the U.S. I went to 2 colleges both of which have lost their men's program. One of them everyone is just talking about (Murray State) and one I am sure noone has heard of Georgia Southern. Both times it did not make me happy to see the newly running kids to get shafted. However it is both current runners and Alumni who poorly manage running that is killing us.

...Current runners: Everytime you are on the track and you see some over weight person running the first comment that comes to mind is "A little late for that" or "Why bother". I know I used to do it. That person running has nothing but respect for the fast runners. The problem is the annoyed vibe we put off is taken very badly by this over weight runner and then he loses respect for the runner. The same case when you hit a car for pulling onto the sidewalk to pull into traffic and you have to run around. It pisses me off too. These people don't want to give money to a bunch of punk kids that disrupt like that or hit there car. Would you?

Now more importantly: Alumni, I am as guilty as every single alumni out there. Unless you have a kid in the program you ain't givin' nuthin' to your alma mater because you had to work so hard for it yourself. Ding Ding ding. Guess what, there are 10 more kids on the program now that are working just as hard that will have the same mentality later. The worst thing Running alumni has done for current runners is to suck every bit of the money out of any running program they can. Miss use it, spend it on themselves. Why, because it was owed to them. The worst example of this is the AAU. Geez if they hadn't been around who knows what American running could be today. Probably a very televised interesting sport to watch. Not some sport people have to watch when their kids participate.

This is just my opinion. And everyone knows opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one and everyone elses stinks.
