Yeah, I agree. People that run 85-120 mile weeks do it for the purpose of competiting at a high level. Doing it "just because you like it" is greedy and stupid. What if you were playing darts for hours upon end, taking time away from family? No body on here would be telling you how great you are.
Dont wrap up your obession in the positive form of running and think you are doing anything special.
again, this is the most ignorant post on here. no one said anyone was doing any thing 'specail' and some people don't do it for the purpose of competiting at a high level -- yeah, it might be selfish to do what you love, but that's true with ANYTHING not just running -- that does not mean it's compulsive or a crutch, or stupid. I think if someone were posting about practicing darts it's the same thing -- it's just a decision one has to make to make their life work around all the things they love --
Besides all people are inherently selfish -- it's the level of selfishness one rises or falls to.
