Not sure if anyone considers "A River Runs Through It" to be a classic. Book is legendary, though.

I think "Grapes of Wrath" went about as far as movies could do in 1940 (or whatever). I mean, they didn't show Ros O'Sharon nursing the guy at the end either, did they?
I didn't suspect they would. I don't need to see breasts to consider it a good movie, but it was #23 on AFI's list ahead of To Kill a Mockingbird among others. I might not say it was "rubbish" but definitely overrated.

Clockwork Orange.
It was just boring as shit. The cinematography was lame. There was no good point. Yeah, it was "disturbing" but with the amount of porn and slasher films and stuff like that I watch, I didn't really find it to be that crazy. Maybe for the prudes that were around when it first came out.
But come on, it was just stupid. The only people who like it like it because it is cool and they think it makes them artsy or whatever.
Your dumb opinions are making me feel better about liking the movie.
"A Clockwork Orange" is bad. Malcolm McDowell was good, but you'd be better off seeing "If..." from that same era.
One almost universally critically acclaimed movie that I think is no great shakes at all is "All About Eve."
Couldn't disagree more. All About Eve has one of the best screenplays in the history of cinema. That cast was absolutely electric.I'm surprised no one has mentioned Gone With the Wind (maybe they have - long thread, could have missed it). O.K., it's not rubbish. It's fun to watch, but never has slavery looked so quaint.
