Its a race people, slow does not equal good.
This is championship racing. How many times in a championship race does someone go out hard, hold on, win and break the world record in a 1500?
I can think of Filbert Bayi front running a world record at the 1974 Commonwealth Games and beating Walker, Jipcho and others.
Add to the list if you can, but doesn't happen very often and it didn't happen often for Bayi.
