nikemanWhen I talked to Alberto after the race he said that Galen has been doing a lot of speed work. He mentioned that he ran 100 in 11.3 and 200 meters in 23.X in recent workouts
is this believable ?
what does it indicate for current 400 ?

Well, if that information is accurate then I would say an 11.3 indicates he could run a 400 in 48 seconds.
I am quite surprised. I assume he is doing these from standing starts which makes it even more ridiculous. I have ran 1 to 1.5 seconds faster in competition for the 200m than I ever did in practice so it sounds pretty unbelievable to me that Galen Rupp would be an 11.0-11.2 and 21.7-22.0 guy. If he is then he has been doing something wrong with his training because he hasn't shown that kind of speed in his races.
With that endurance/speed I don't think he'd be running the 10k
depends on the set, shoes, wind and start.
~48-49 4x400m capability, so ~3:54 mile shape.
11.3 is not believable, for Rupp
He also pole vaulted 5 metres and threw the javelin 70 metres. But his distances were down because they were during a mile rep.
If it's hand timed (which means closer to 11.5-11.7 in real terms) it's completely believable.
running start, racing flats, slight tail wind, yes quite believable.
Mills could run 11.5 as could Mamede, Hussein, Tergat, Geb, Bekele. Nobody goes <27 for 10000m without 11.5 speed.

Tadese ran 26:37

Why the hell would you assume it was from a standing start? No way, 11.3 is closer to an 11.5 with starting the watch and then with a running start he could be closer to 12.0 which is reasonable.
You sound like a 17 year old kid. What is you best mile 4:41?
in b4 "Rupp vs. Wariner in the 800" debate
Didn't know Ruppy had the fast twitch. We already know his cardiovascular fitness is on fire. If true...
Maybe there's reason to riding NinjaMask's jockstrap.

No, he ran a 24.3 personal best just prior to the Tokyo 10k.
Those times for Galen are ambiguous.
A 23.x is logical, but I'm sure he didn't run a 11.3 for 100mm.
Apparently he did it in tennis shoes and no blocks according to a recent post.
The answer's probably a lot simpler. I wouldn't trust anything Salazar says. How much bullshit does he have to talk before people stop trusting him?
11.3 is bullcrap. unless he is doing that run in start like a lot of distance guys do.
When i was in college I ran the 100m once. Here were my Pr's
60m: 7.2
100m: 11.29
200m: 21.9
400m:48
if he can do a 11.3 and only a 23 then yeah righttt
Who gives a shit what his 100 and 200 times are. They were USELESS against lagat and sol.

Wow, if he is that fast, maybe there is hope for him to break 15 minutes in the 5k soon!! He's gonna be one to watch in the upcoming Intermediate USATF JO championships.
we have high school girls who run 11.3 for 100 and 23. for 200
every year, heck robin reynolds ran 23. for 200 at age 12-13, yeah rupp is not a sprinter, but those times are not impressive especially if he had a running start, which he probably did, i mean salazar is not going to have rupp timed coming out of the blocks.
