thoughts??? What the Hell!!??!?!
Scares the shit outa me. What if he tested positive and USATF was " we will keep this sit hush hush but you have to back out with an injury"
reports are saying 'trouble with his hip'
Is there any way to watch live? Why is this tape delayed or am I just dumb. It could be that I am dumb. Also, sad to see tyson couldn't go.
So no worlds? Im a noob at this.
11-1 tonight ESPN2
I'm surprised more people aren't commenting on this. This is HUGE. Probably the best time to catch Bolt on a down year and Gay blows it.
Well, This kills TV ratings for the Worlds. No Bolt vs Gay, general public doesn't give a shit about any other events!
Would a false start DQ show up as DNS??

Bolt will still get the ratings, no one gives a shit about Gay because he is so boring.[/quote]
And because his name is...Gay.
Matt Taylor of ChasingTradition.com, ChasingKimbia.com fame and now with Puma is with Bolt in Jamaica right now and he texted me asking if Gay was out.
Then Matt said they announced it at the Jamaican champs over the loudspeaker and everyone got excited.
In case you haven't seen this article by Philip Hersh on Gay pulling out:
And here is USATFs statement:
EUGENE - Tyson Gay withdrew from the men's 100m prior to Friday's semifinal round at the 2011 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene. The following is a statement from Mark Wetmore, Gay's agent:
"Tyson has scratched from the 100m. He was unable to warm up due to a hip and adductor problem on his right side. As Tyson has mentioned, it has been bothering him for several months."
As it has been for years, our selection system is broken. Should be pick 1, trials for 2.

It comes as no surprise to people that really knows T&F Tyson Gay has reached his full potential and that's it. I am really disappointed that he won't be on the receiving end of Bolt's trashing but I guess it's better to quit than lose once again to the best sprinter ever in the modern era.

Never thought I'd live to see the day that Gay was scared of Dix!
And this is why track will never be big time. Gay is on roids for sure. If he was actually hurt he wouldnt have even ran. Bullshit Gay you gay queer.

Sucks. I was looking forward to it. Would have been EXCELLENT.
And then people here complain about track not getting any respect. This is the World Championship he's competing for a place in. And he pulls out? Was his foot broken? He should have run the race, even if it meant he had to walk through the finish line and finish in 60 seconds. At least people would have said Tyson tried put just could not get it done on the day. But he pulls out of the race? Damn!

Right. That's exactly what happened at the Olympic Trials when he felt pain in his leg but ran the round of the 200m anyways.
Tyson could not walk without a limp after round 1....and yes, system is not perfect. There are countless examples of the USA not sending the best athletes. I think EVERYONE at USATF would agree that Tyson is the best sprinter the US has. He was #1 in the world last year. Should that be enough??? Tough call. If the goal is to send the best team, then the system arguably does not work.....and drugs? really? does anyone have any idea how many times he's tested in and out of competition? that's just ignorant. He's hurt, and that's sad.........best US 100 meter runner ever.
