no really impressive for him. 9.91 twice and a 19.86 its going to take more than that to beat gay in the 100 and his 200 isn't looking too hot.

Don't be a goose. Bolt will be just fine, and when time comes to time, T-Gay will get dusted just as usual. Don't doubt Usain. And don't let the relaxed guise fool ya. He's a competitor... and doesn't want to lose to ANYBODY.
I think he is the "best" runner out of all distances of all time. If he has two more years like this, there will be no doubt.
can't trust the track in oslo...add .15 for indication of his true fitness
I was certainly impressed. Didn't think he would run that fast. It appeared to be cool and raining in Oslo as well.
That's .67s off his personal best and he opened with 19.59 over a year ago that is a .40s difference.
Cold, wet, slight headwind, only second race of the year, and no one in the field to push him (he gapped everyone by the turn). We won't see WR form this year. Bolt knows that he is on a two year plan for the Olympics and won't try to crush it every time out. But, he isn't going to lose to Tyson Gay unless Tyson seriously steps up his game.
+0.7 is a tailwind, not a headwind bro
Gay looks pretty solid at 100 right now but he might not even run the 200 at USAs/Worlds. Bolt ran a ho-hum, world-leading 19.86 in pouring rain. He won the race by about 0.6. The poor conditions and lack of competition led to a "slow" time. In reality the world champs are late this year and he hasn't run a 200 in more than a year so I'd say he's right on schedule and going to be fine.
really tight turn in oslo. i dont think he could have gone any faster and stayed in his lane.
that was the easiest 19.86 you will ever see.
I don't see him winning the 100m this year. Every year he comes out running something ridiculous this is three races where he ran by his standards pedestrian times. Had he ran 19.6 I would have thought he was back. But either he is faking or he has slowed down drastically because you don't go from running 9.9s and 19 highs to running 9.5-9.6s and 19 lows. I don't care how much speed work you do. I told some of my friends i felt like there would be a point in time where he faked it and bust something crazy out at worlds or the olympics. This way it makes him look human and the doping accusations can stop. If that is the case its amazing a guy can let up on the gas and still run this fast lmao. He is still way ahead of his time whether he is doping or not to me.
The guy is just plain amazing.
He crushed the field, and did all that he needed to win.
To me, this looked like a fast training run. I think it was a good idea to run this race, to get in some training in actual competition conditions.
As for Gay, of course there are many types of "injuries", not all debilitating.
He's probably "tweaked" somewhere, meaning that he can run, and fast, but that it would be very easy for him to traumatically hurt himself if he stepped outside his normal, very narrow, range of very high performance.
If I were him, and I was surviving and doing well at 100's (which he is), I don't know that I would try the 200, unless I knew that I could basically jog it and win (like Bolt).
I don't know how many of you are sprinters on here, but I suspect that you don't know what it is like to go "all-out". I know you BELIEVE that you have, but even if you have subjectively gone all-out, and you are not a sprinter, you weren't generating the kinds of forces and torques that a sprinter is generating.
They are at the limit of their neurology and tissues. Any slight screw-up can mean instant disaster, and it often does.
The big key is to learn to run so that you don't sustain those injuries. Seriously, that is more than half the battle. Once you have figured that out, you have given yourself the time required to train, and you then train within that basic style.
I think that good coaches recognize this, and only work at running style in a very gentle, and usually indirect, fashion. That is why you see obvious flaws in people's races (Gay/start, Powell/top end, Collins/top end, Thompson/top end), but you very rarely see one of these glaring flaws corrected--because it is very difficult in the first instance, and because it takes a lot of training to change if you don't want to get injured doing so.
Non-sprinters don't even have the physiology to approach the range in which sprinters live--you cannot understand what it is like. It's a very fine line, so very easy to screw up badly in an instant of time.
I think both Gay and Bolt have been playing it smartly this year so far.
"I have honestly missed so much training this year because of my hip and everything, it is very difficult to say when I will run a 200," Gay was quoted.
Really? So let me get this right Tyson Gay is now of the impression that he can challenge Usain Bolt in a 200m race...ok then. Something has his confidence going haywire and trust me it is not his training or lack of.
This man could not break 19.4sec in a straight 200m when he was at the top of his condition but now he believes with he could challenge Bolt in a conventional 200m. Michael Johnson said "The 200m is the most dangerous sprint event in Track & Field" is arguably the best 200m runner ever, stepped down from the 200m due to injury so that he can focus on the 400m(record)but this guy with his "groin hanging on bye a string"; "I am only running on one leg" and now his hip injury which he said can be a career ending injury if he continues to run, is still comtemplating running the 200m. This is the funniest shit I have ever heard.
Tyson Gay claims that he missed so much training but in his first two races of the season he still ran 14.51sec in a 150m then he ran 9.79sec in the 100m with no competition. He wants us to believe that he is really injured.
My fellow Track & Field fans Tyson Gay has not been injured since the weeks and months after the USATF champs in 2008.
Did you actually watch the race? I hope this is a troll attempt because he just ran 19.86 in an absolute downpour.

Are you serious. The dude ran 19.51 in a regular season race. It wasn't like he was peaking at a major championship when he ran it. Bolt does the same sort of times in a regular race. Bolt has never ran ffaster then 19.5 in a regular season race neither.
Also 200m straight is alot different when talking about energy expenditure. You don't reach top speed in a curve so you don't get as tired as suppose to running the entire 200m on a straightaway where it's prety much like a 100m and you can only go all out for 7 secs so they will decelerate longer on a straightaway.
As far as him being hurt Bolt makes gthe same excuses especially when races don't go his way. Last year I can pull up an article before he raced Gay where he said he was ready and after the race he so called had a back injury that ended his season lol. He should of said that before or just not even bothered racing.

No one asked Tyson Gay about the 200m because 19.19; 19.30; and <19.4x is not in his league, he decided to speak about the 200m.
Here goes some food for thought Tyson Gay is a true 9.7-9.8 100m runner but, have you notice that his time has not change drastically even though he is never 100%(so he claims). So let me get this right Tyson Gay is the first and only sprinter in the history of Track and field to PR while injured and maintain a range that he could not reach when he was 100% healthy...ok then and the bullshit continues.
