6months ago I moved to 6000ft, and immediately found that all aspects of my running seemed to fall apart. Aerobic workouts are totally awful, speed stuff requires massive rests, and race times (I've only raced up here) are far behind what I'd expect. Things have improved somewhat the last few months, but I had always assumed acclimatization would be done in a matter of weeks.
Does anyone have any insight on this? I had always read that 800m is barely effected by altitude, but for whatever reason I've found myself totally falling apart the last 200m of every race I run...
I'm hoping that somehow all this awfulness will benefit me in the long term.
Anyone else have similar experiences?
