Hey guys, I'm looking for a bit of constructive advice here. I'm currently an 800m guy and have been for the past 4 years. I finished HS with these PRs going off of 45-50 mpw:
400: 53.5
800: 1:59 (split 1:58-mid leading off a 4x800)
1000: 2:42
Mile: 4:29 (only really ran it twice)
After my first year of College I now have these PRs
400:53.5(still)
800: 1:57.2
1000: 2:32.4
Mile: 4:26
Now I clearly don't have a lot of natural 400m speed and did a lot of 800m work this year. So lots of 200s, 300s, 400s, and 600s in workouts. I improved my 1k time considerably and knocked off 2 secs on my 800m but how far can I go in this event with such little speed? Is it possible to get down to a respectable time with this talent-set, like the 1:52 area, or would I be better served moving up to the 1500 and focusing on that?
I love the 800m as a race but I also want to run the very best I can by the end of my career.
