Wow, the pollen levels are really high today! I toughed it out though and ran anyway.

I was really nervous until I saw you actually begin your run today, Ralen. I would have totally been unable to function without you to leech off, which sadly is why my championship record is so lacking. As long as I limit myself to following you around like a stalker, I can get some decent time trials in at least.
Yes, the pollen is really bad on the allergies.
But, the added weight to my shoulders when it falls on my body makes it even toughter to run, so much more wieght to carry throw my stride off. Not to mention how much of the pollen sticks to my breathe right strip right on my nose, just horrible.
As long as I kept it slower than 5:00/mile today, the pollen wasn't too bad. Good reinforcement to keep an easy day easy.
You must start referring to pollen levels on the "Rupp Scale":
If it's really bad, it's an R10.

Shris, good to hear that I can provide motivating and pacing. I'll try to give you more heads up on the pollen counts next time, so as to not leave you hanging.

Ralen
It was R10 here in CO today too, barely ran.
This is a hilarious thread.
My car's been covered in pollen for the last 2 weeks, since it hasn't rained a lick.
I'll give Boone an R9.
I woke up a few mornings ago and took a pollen bath, drank a pollen milkshake and then went and broke 27 in the 10k. Afterward I went and snorted some pollen just to prove I could.
Did you see any people out for runs who were crying their eyes out or gasping for breath on the trails?
I'll occasionally get a tickle in my throat that causes coughing spasms for a few minutes, but I don't have asthma and can't say as my coughing keeps me from running.
I live in DC. Pollen counts are "High" according to the weather channel. I am very sensitive to pollen, but ran 10.5 miles without any problem.
Today was an R7 day in DC.
Today was a high pollen day in LA as well. I could barely walk, and wouldn't have considered running. BTW, the LA pollen of 6 was higher than DC which was at 3 and Eugene was at 18.
