lucKY2b, good for getting back into a training attitude. Keep it up!
ogII, that’s a very nice 5k TT and a good week.
Igy, sounds like a good week. Stay safe over there. Our own COVID—19 situation has calmed down greatly after being a huge hot spot in August. I’ve heard rumors that our gym will reopen next week. Still not sure if I want to go just yet, but I really do need something better than the exercises I’m doing at home with little dumbbells and body weight.
dhaaga, another solid week, especially your long run on Saturday.
Rtype, good to see the ramp-up continues.
The air quality here was greatly improved this week, starting off at acceptable and ending at very good. However, my heel continued to give me problems. Also, my efforts to taper down the prednisone dose I’m taking to control my PMR symptoms finally ran smack into the reality that I may not be able to go off the drug completely yet. I’d been doing marginally OK at 2 mg/day but on Monday I dropped down to 1 mg and had a large increase in stiffness and pain. My “runs” are now above 10 min/mile pace and quite ouchy, especially at the start.
Mon: 7.1 mile run, about 10 mile bike ride.
Tues: 7.6 mile run.
Weds: 9.2 mile run.
Thurs: 9.5 mile run.
Fri: 9.6 mile run.
Sat: Went out to run but my heel immediately started to sting pretty badly, so I shut it down and did 23 miles on the bike instead.
Sun: It was a beautiful day for a bike ride, so I decided to give the heel another day off and just did 34 miles on the bike.
43 miles of running and about 67 on the bike. I guess I’ll stick with the 1 mg/day of prednisone and see if things improve over the next week. If not I may have to up the dose and resume pursuing a second opinion from UCSF.
Wishing everyone a good training week.
