Your posts appear to be intentionally rude and insulting without contributing anything useful to the discussions on this thread. Are you trying to communicate something I am missing?

I have been neither rude, nor insulting. I have no idea how you could interpret anything I wrote as such.

I’ll do that! I’ll be wearing a KC Royals hoodie. Mrs. KCgeezer will be with me to cheer me on.
Thanks for the offer. Cal Coast, eh? I’ll be trying to keep some of them in my sight ... probably the ones with 65s and 70s on their backs ...
By the way I literally do not know anybody’s name on this board other than Igy’s, so cush and OGII, look for me. I’ll try to be obvious!

Gave me a youtube video idea...Ever watch a video where a young athlete is disguised to look like an old fart then schools some whipper snappers. Probably would get someone banned for life but I would give it a thumbs up! A say fast fifty year old made up to look 80 number and all going out with the big boyz would be hilarious.
Regarding the little skirmishes with said Igy, I get it. But don’t approve. Just move on.

Okay, person posting under 10 aliases, I will!
OGII, I’m sorry I missed you at the race today, we had to scoot back to LA. But I’m looking at the standings — were you part of a team? I see your name and La Jolla, no team name. You guys sure looked like a team. And you had a better nickname than “Boise Betties and Billies,” oy vey. (Sorry, Igy.)
That was a fun outing. Now I know what it’s like to run on the beach for 8,000 meters!
Sorry I missed you too, but I ended up talking to the Navy women's team, who I'm pretty sure were much cuter and more charming than you, about the course conditions, and telling them stories about my Vietnam days as a submarine officer. As to my team status, I have been running for the Jamul Toads for over 10 years, but I did a brief switch to the local men's 70+ team for Bethlehem PA since no other Toads were going to Club XC. I now am doing my 90 days unattached until I rejoin the Toads. I definitely will be running in my Toads singlet for Club XC in SF and the 2021 USATF XC back here again.
I couldn't be happier about my race yesterday, but I still think I have some room to improve my fitness with the usual caveat of if I can stay injury-free.
There's an entertaining book on the history of the Jamul Toads written by NY Times Sports editor (and marathoner) Matt Futterman,

And so much more, I see ... I’m getting this:
P.S. I noticed a healthy number of runners in our race wearing the pink or green Nikes. I talked to a couple of them after the race and they uniformly said they thought the footing was too uneven for the 4%/vaporfly/next%s to offer any advantage. I love that patchy bothersome grass on my home course. I went with my trusty NB XC spikes.
*Week 448*
Greetings, 50+ers! Great to see some nice race results and solid workouts, yet again! Really hopping the boot and follow-up does the trick, racerdb!
As for me, I'm continuing on this quest to get my act together. Got out for my 3+ of walking and/or running everyday except Wednesday (Wednesday is going to be rough for me as I'm in class 9-11, 3-5,5-7,7-9 and always have plenty of administrative BS to deal with in between.) Side note: I'm taking on some extra teaching both for supplemental income, but also because there were some sequence courses that were going to be cancelled and I hated the thought of some kids not completing the sequence before transferring.
At any rate, 20 miles this week, and it was also unrealistic to do run/walk every other day (the knee wasn't going to like it) but I did have two run/walk sessions this week, so at least I added one more over last week: one was on some hill repeats and the other was on my longest day of 4.4 miles where roughly half of it was running. I'm a tad sore today, though. Also, down 8 pounds from late December when I started this. So back under 200....feeling more motivated each day.
That's it from the Bluegrass where we went from a balmy 65 to today's high of 26. Hope to read some nice race reports from XC Championships, and good luck to my buddy Rick T. running in the Houston half-marathon this morning.
All the Best!
Oh, and Go Pack, Go!

You must mean "go away, Pack"--which I hope the Niners will make them do. Seriously, the Packers are my favorite NFL team after the Niners so I feel a bit conflicted about today's game.
Another very solid training week. I upped the long run distance by another 2 miles and backed off on the pace a little.
Mon: 10.5 miles
Tues: 10.5 miles
Weds: 10.6 miles
Thurs: 10.5 miles
Fri: 10.4 miles
Sat: 20.4 miles in 3:05 (9:04/mile or 3:58 marathon pace). It was about 40 degrees with dense fog throughout. I found a pace that felt sustainable and finished in good shape, although admittedly a bit weary. For the first time on a training run I managed to consume two gels and had no GI or other issues. I still can’t tell whether the gels help at all but they don’t seem to hurt.
Sun: 7.0 miles easy.
80 miles for the week including a solid long run. My heel continues to tolerate the long runs just fine and to feel slightly better, very gradually. My marathon is 10 weeks from today and right now I wish it were sooner, but the only possibilities between now and then would require an overnight hotel stay (e.g. Big Red’s Napa Valley Marathon in six weeks, 3.5 hours away) and it makes a lot more sense to wait for the one that’s 45 minutes away. I’ll kick myself if I get hurt between now and then or if the last weekend in March turns out to be too warm.
Still trying to look up results from the Houston marathon and half. I can’t get their web site to respond…grrr…
Congratulations KCgeezer, old guy II, and socal cush on fine races. Looks like it was fun. Lots of familiar names on that list. In regards to the Betties and Billies I know several of their runners, but the club names are a head scratcher. I run for the Hoka Aggies and did back in my 50s masters days. Gunnar Linde age 91 ran for socal’s and my old team tge Santa Monica Track Club.
Congrats to all who toed the cross-country line in San Diego yesterday. A selfish atta-boy to my club who won our first M50 team title. This here 59er would have zero contribution but is aiming to get our best M60 team assembled for Club Nats 2020. Go BTCM.

finally happy with a race effort and result in san diego--i felt like i fought hard on the fairly unforgiving soft grass of mission bay, taking 2nd in my AG to a fantastic effort by craig godwin of bowerman. i beat a wobbly matt farley over the last 200m or so, but bowerman took the team honors for the 50s, crushing my calcoast squad, 22 pts to our 44. unlike bethlehem where i lost 13 places over the last 2.5k, i actually moved up slightly each 2k loop, from 17th to 11th, and i beat some of the 50s dudes who've had their way with me the last couple of years. congrats also to OGII for a great race, and glad to meet KCgeezer and his wife out there. had a great time after the race, sampling the local brew scene at coronado brewing and modern times. that said, i'm glad this x-c $#!+ is over with--time to focus on the roads and even make my way onto the track...
carpe crepusculum,
cush
Nice XC racing 50+ers
btw Craig Godwin ran 32:43/92.73% last year ago at the Ice Breaker Linfield. Ra nked Third for 10000 in the world 50 to 54.
LKY nice job running and weight loss glad to see you getting fired up!
AMK big week!
Well I am getting antsy lsd does that to me. But unlike Charlie Brown I am not gonna engage in trying to kick the ball.
I have added a bit of speed to my lsd just a tad . Did 8x30/30s at 5000 effort/jog . ES for Easy Speed.
so 6 lsd runs of 40 minutes each treadmill, sand , mushy grass
1 ES 8x30/30
1 hirt on the bike 5x30 seconds
I want to see where the easy stuff takes me but also want to run some faster stuff . Maybe I will just pull a Charlie Brown;)
Congrats OGII, Cush and KC on some great racing!
Amkelley: Wow on those miles! You know what’s best but maybe move the goalposts (race) closer to when you feel you have the best shot, even if it means traveling.
TU: 4 road with 3 @ 8:45 pace
TH: 4 road with 3 @ 8:40 pace
SA: 5 treadmill with 3 Miles @ 7:05, 7:01, 6:57 with 1 lap walk between
SU: 4 treadmill with 3 @ 8:09 pace
Good week of running. I’m lucky the many little sub-chronic injuries continue to be quiet.
For SAT’s treadmill workout, I have not pushed the thing to that speed in a while. It felt much faster than it really was. No listening to music and I definitely wore the tether (which I normally do not).
Have a great week folks!
I am happy to report that I had a very healthy week and perhaps the best one in a few months. My hope was to get a 50’ run before the end of the week, but I did it on Monday! That led to a 20+ mile week of actual running (no fluff) though admittedly it was somewhat by mistake. I am traveling and ran in a strange place today eventually getting lost and padding my mileage a bit. Oops!
Thanks to those who offered support in recent weeks. This remains a terrific thread and I am happy that so many unselfish and optimistic folks have joined us over the years. It means so much!
Sun: off

Best to most!
